December 6, Zillow announced FREE advertising to agents and homeowners on the Zillow website. hmmmmmmmm
December 7 while I was "waiting and seeing" whether the "sky was falling" or whether Zillow was the next best thing since sliced bread....I wrote an entry about Zillow.... when I went to grab a link to the Zillow AVM form the HER Real Living or Real Living's website... the link to Zillow's AVM was gone...
I don't know whether it will be in the Real Living blog.... or whether HER JR. will be quoted in Inman, Rismedia etc. regarding why the company is no longer involved with Zillow. Dumper that is funny... I was thinking of it as a break up yesterday ... Thanks for the comment. Maureen
I love your play on words re: Loves Z, Loves Z not....Just curious are you in Love with Zillow? Did you find it a valuable service before their new launch? and what your thoughts are now with the new offerings? Love Z, Love Z not???
Barbara, I have flip flopped back and forth about Zillow. I don't think I ever really loved Z except when Real Living had the AVM on the website, for the last month or so. And then only when I read that it was smart. I was afraid of Zillow before it was introduced when I heard it was going to replace all of us. When Zillow debuted and was so flawed I blogged a few times... a bunch of times really about how inaccurate Zillow was (as most real estate bloggers did this past year.) When Sellsius° Blog coined the term unZillowable I jumped on Sellsius° Blogs concept of what makes a home unZillowable. When Real Living had the Zillow AVM on the Real Living site and the Future of Real Estate Marketing blog said Real Living was smart for doing it, I was proud....of Real Living for being so progressive and maybe I loved Z a bit... Yesterday I was confused. When I heard from HER Jr. and Kaira, I loved Z not. Thanks for the comment. Maureen
Zillow now offers agents the opportunity to post their listings for free. I'm sure there's some way they are going to sell prospect leads back - it can't really be free, but according to their FAQ's, it really is for now... I guess we'll see how things progress. I decided to try it out (don't shoot me!) and the valuations were off a bit, but not so much that I was concerned. It'll be interesting to see if Z drives any traffic and most importantly, drives any closings. Anyone else using it?
Michael, the value being off is so Februrary, March, April, May, June, July, August 2006... get over it. that is what Zillow used to distract us all. Read Sellsius° from December 7.... Zillow pulled the Switcheroo. thanks for the comment. Do you own the data now or does Zillow? Maureen
If you live in Houston, it appears that Zillow at least shares in ownership of the data! Our MLS this year requested all brokers to share a copyright of the MLS data. The latest "update" on our IDX feeds is that we have to have a user agreement accepted before any of the consumers can view our IDX. This will be across the board in the Regional MLS of the Twin Cities, MN. I'm suspecting they have done this to protect against proliferation of the data by outsiders.
