Sep. 12, 2007 If you are reading Discover Columbus....
If
you are reading this... Thank YOU.
Soon Discover Columbus is
going to look different. Soon Discover Columbus is going to
be part of a Beta for RealTown.com. What does that mean to
you? Not much just that hopefully it will be more crowded
here. Not that it matters if it is crowded reading a website
does it? You won't feel crowded at all. It's not like a
real place where traffic causes elbows and noise and
claustrophobia. You if you return will probably never be
aware of the increased traffic on Discover Columbus.
What will change? The
look. Discover Columbus will probably look
better. There will not be so many distractions in the side
bar. I am going to use the RealTown Blogs default template
rather than a custom template. RealTownBlogs did not have a
default template... or maybe it did, it's been so
long.
I am not sure if there will
be a way with the default template for me to add back in things
like Twitter, Andertoons, ActiveRain badges, etc. only time will
tell.
It looks like the
default template is a three column blog and the right side bar
is all about RealTown.com That does not thrill me...
but hey it's free. It's theirs.
I will miss some of the
bells and whistles I have put into my custom template, but if there
are people to read what I write, who needs Twitter, cartoons, links
to ActiveRain etc.
Will the changes on
Discover Columbus be only skin deep? Hopefully
not. My url is going to change. Don't worry this url will be
redirected. The reason for the change IMHO is because no one
could find blogs on
RealTownBlogs.com. RealTownBlogs have been
virtually invisible to many of the search
engines.
Gosh I might even have to
start writing entries here again, rather than
posting Market Reports that no one could find and an
upcoming events thing when I could make myself do it... Maybe
you will find interesting entries here
again.
I wonder...
- will I use the Comic
Sans MS font...
- will I use cartoony
images?
- will I be able to put
Twitter etc. back on?
- can I put Google Analytics
back on so I can see the traffic or lack of traffic on
Discover Columbus or will I have
to
trust what RealTown tells me about traffic on RealTown and my
blog?
What does RealTown tell
me? That they have lots of traffic... that consumers like
RealTown Blogs. Only time will tell. I am excited though.
Watch for changes.
Hopefully all for the better.... remember you don't need to change
anything.. I do. Again thanks for being here.
In a
recent interview with Todd Carpenter of
Rembex Blog Fiesta in answer to a question about having
more than one blog I said:
Q.
How do you determine where you post one topic or
another?
A. "ColumbusBestBlog on WordPress.org is the
real deal for me, that’s where most everything
goes.
Talking to
other real estate agents - ActiveRain
Link Direction posts to local content on ColumbusBestBlog -
ActiveRain / Localism
Upcoming events, market reports, cows, cartoons - Discover Columbus
my RealTown blog.
When I lock myself out of ColumbusBestBlog or have technical
difficulities there I post to Discover Columbus, my RealTown
blog just because I have had so much experience there I can easily
put stuff up."
