My favorite Columbus Mexican Restaurant

Sadly when talk turned to food last night at a small gathering someone brought up my favorite Columbus Mexican Restaurant., La Hacienda Real on Sinclair Rd. Sadly because there was a shooting at Hacienda Real on Sunday morning. Four people were shot, two fatally.

The Columbus Dispatch has the details of course.

We were at Hacienda Real one night this weekend... I can't remember if it was Friday or Saturday night.... We would have been gone before the karaoke started.

We were at the Hacienda Real earlier in the evening the night of the shooting at the Alrosa Villa a couple of years ago. I was asleep on the couch when the local news had the breaking story. I think of Sinclair Rd. being a relatively safe neighborhood. The Sinclair Road / Morse Road area is familiar to me.

My sympathies to the family of the men who were killed. Best wishes for a speedy recovery to the two injured men including one of the restaurants co-owners. We eat there so often I feel like I know them.

The Columbus Dispatch says of La Hacienda Real:

"Located just off Morse Road and I-71, La Hacienda Real opened in 2002 in a brick building that once housed a Shoney's restaurant. The restaurant is known for its handmade tortillas and other homemade dishes."

I recommend the chile relleno.
