A Viking invasion of Columbus? In The Other Paper I read that there will be a Viking ship in Columbus (Upper Arlington area south of McCoy, north of Fishinger tried posting a map and a link here both failed to work) on Friday, on the Scioto River...
7690 Riverside Drive is where the Viking ship will be on Friday May 2, 2008 from 8:00 until 4:00 P.M. Or will it be at that address and then sailing down the Scioto to a small town 30 miles south of Columbus which shall remain nameless here?
The Other Paper mentions that Leif Ericson discovered America before Christopher Columbus did so maybe the city should be named Ericson...

Apr. 15, 2008 - Trash in the streets of Columbus II
Do the trash bins sit in the street on trash day in your Columbus neighborhood? Or up on the driveway or curb?
Trash in the streets of Columbus
Columbus Ohio has a color coded trash pick up schedule with big green trash bins that are on the curb in most neighborhoods on trash pick up day. A big truck comes by and a robotic arm picks up the trash.
I visited a friend one day to drop something off. It was trash day in the NAVY area of Columbus... her home is in the NAVY area... I forget sometimes she lives in the City of Columbus because she is in Delaware County, her house is in the Olentangy School District and she has a Lewis Center mailing address. I know she lives in Columbus on trash day, because of the garbage cans in their neighborhood.
Trash in her 'hood sits on the edge of her driveway NOT in the street.
I can't tell you what day of the week it was. Just that it was trash day in the NAVY area.... she has a neighbor we don't like... (doesn't that sound childish?) I can't tell you the neighbors name... or really why we don't like her. It's a real estate thing... it is old and long forgotten... My friend walked me out to my car and warned me not to back into the trash can on the end of their driveway... that was sweet of her... or maybe she was thinking of her trash receptacle... either way I was careful to not hit her trash as I backed out...
Her neighbor we don't like (sorry to sound so childish) was backing out of her driveway at the same time. She backed right into her own trash can... pitch of her driveway, height of her bumper... the big green trash can wedged under the wheels of her vehicle...
tee hee

Rob DeTillio chef of Thom 's on Grandview was recently fired because the owner claimed he couldn't afford to pay him. So i would like to ask everyone who reads this to boycott going to Thom's on Grandview because the food will not be nearly as good as when my father worked there.
P.S: be aware of the seafood
Joke? Prank?
Did Columbus blogs who really are about food and restaurant hear from Sam?
If it is for real ...how old is Sam?
While I can't recommend this Grandview restaurant since I have NOT eaten there, I would hate to see Sam get his wish that people boycott the restaurant because they are struggling... What about the waiter / waitresses families? ... what about the rest of the kitchen staff .... bus boys... etc. I don't think calling for the boycott of a restaurant that had to lay off an employee for financial reasons makes any sense.
There are reviews on the restaurant website from the Grumpy Gourmet, Columbus Monthly and others...
My sympathies to this chef's family... Hope you find another job quickly.
I wonder about the cryptic mess sage at the end...
