March 2007

Mar. 31, 2007 - "Rabbit, Rabbit, Rabbit" April 2007

Artic Hare"Rabbit, Rabbit, Rabbit"  is supposed to be the first words you utter each month.

No fooling.  It's good luck.

Happy April First.  Many kids are looking forward to the Easter bunnies visit in a week.

Is Welsh Rabbit....  something along the lines of Ground Hog Stew I posted a few weeks after Februray 2, 2007 when I thought Buckeye Chuck had let us down? Here's  Welsh Rabbit recipes from the Columbus Dispatch....in January 2007.

Growing up we ate Welsh Rabbit on Friday's.... ours was Campbells Cream of Cheddar Cheese Soup prepared as sauce over the cheapest, non nutritious, white bread money could buy.  Not gourmet... no extra spices, vegtables, etc.

Welsh Rabbit is a cousin of fondue. I have never been to the Fondue Restaurant at Easton....The Melting Pot.  I wanted to go when it was on High Street... but I was always vetoed... I have only had cheese fondue a few times in my life... I own a fondue pot...I grew up in a two fondue pot family.. but we did mostly beef fondue (moooo)  not cheese.  Bourguignone (?)

The photo above is actually an Artic Hare rather than a Welsh Rabbit and it is complements of Geek Philosopher. Here's hoping we see no more snow this year in Central Ohio, that all the little, local brown bunnies are scampering among the early May flowers during the April showers this year.... I think winter is over.

Happy April Fools Day.  Anybody get you?

the Columbus House Rabbit Society is again involved in Make Mine Chocolate for Easter 2007.

There's a new animal residing at the Columbus zoo named Fluffy.  Fluffy is not a rabbit, or even a kitty.  Fluffy is a humongous python.... and what does Fluffy eat according to the Columbus Dispatch?

"Fluffy's diet is rabbits, one or two frozen 10-pounders a week."

Rabbit?

Rabbit, Rabbit?

Gee that doesn't sound very lucky.

Mar. 31, 2007 - Basketball Columbus Ohio

basketball

What people are saying about Columbus Ohio..... that a football town can care about basketball.... when OSU makes it to the Final Four..

This guy has issues... he went to Bowling Green University (three years... or he lived in Bowling Green for three years... went to college for six with no degree.. ) and is scarred for life when it comes to The Ohio State University.  Buckeye Issues... ..."the Ohio State University Buckeyes"  he writes " I prefer to focus on what I really think is important - logos, jerseys, mascots and cheerleaders"

He is not a fan of Brutus Buckeye...  he does not like the basketball jerseys... I am with him on that...the jerseys... of the cheerleaders he says  "If there is a more conservative group of cheerleaders in all of the NCAA, I have yet to see them. Jerry Falwell's Liberty University cheer squad dresses dirtier than this. The guys are showing more skin than the ladies and the basketball team's jerseys are more revealing."  as if it is a bad thing....and goes on... "But what can you say, just like everything else about Ohio State, they are simple, classic and conservative. Anything else would seem out of place."

Mar. 29, 2007 - Central Ohio Weather

LambWill March weather go out like a lamb in Central Ohio?

In "Cold Comfort  At winter?s end, we ask: How did we ever weather it?  Columbus Dispatch journalist Joel Blundo said March 1st came in like a wet blanket? Rainy and cold....Winter as in:

" By the way, we?re talking about psychological winter, which lasts from the first trace of snow in the fall to the middle rounds of the NCAA basketball tournament. "

It's been spring by the clock for nine or ten days now... and the groundhog (Buckeye Chuck) promised us an early spring.  Don't remember the winter of 2006 - 2007 Blundo has the highs and lows of the season with such memorable events as:

" Nov. 18: OSU beats Michigan on a beautiful 50-degree day. All is right with the world. "

" Jan. 9: Cold, dreary day after BCS game. Weather isn?t so great, either. "

We sometimes tell time by sporting events in Central Ohio.  What will be said about weather in Central Ohio on  LionMarch 31, 2007 ... NCAA semi -finals... and the next day... April 1....   Hopefully the Buckeyes will be like lions not lambs in Atlanta.

Inman Blog's  (a national real estate blog ... weather is local... real estate used to be) Matt Carter poked fun at "David Lereah, chief NAR meteorologist"  recently ....it is economist David Learah homes aren't selling so all we are talking about is the weather.....

The Columbus Dispatch article about winter ended "Time to shut off winter anxieties ? and begin fretting about tornadoes, bugs and ultraviolet ?"

Darn... I blogged about tornadoes Monday.
