Monday is a holiday... there is no trash pick up on Martin Luther King Jr. Day and our trash pick up day goes back a day. The Navy area (the north side) goes back to Thursday this week.
The Columbus Trash Collection chart (more properly called the "2008 Refuse Collection Schedule") is colorful this year... doesn't just say Navy, Gold, Ruby, Pink... what is the 5th? It shows the colors...
Next up? Presidents Day... Remember these words of wisdom ..."Your collection day is not affected by Good Friday or Veteran's Day holidays."
I'd love to hear from you if you have a comment on the topic of Columbus trash pick up. All comments are moderated so you will not see your comment immediately. Thanks.

I'm from Toledo and we are just starting this rotating schedule for 2009. Of course everyone is nuts about this change.....we have a mayor who is obsessed with garbage issues (there's a fine if you put your trash out before 7:00 p.m.!!). He's out of office at the end of 2009 and we can only hope he takes his garbage with him!!
So does this system work or does it caused chaos?? Is there any evidence from other cities that this is a good system???
We have had it for a looooong time, it was in effect when I moved to Columbus. It works.
Yes it can be a pain if you forget or get confused. Unsightly if your neighbors jump the gun.
I sometimes wish we had a fine here. The NAVY area switched to Monday after Christmas and there were some trash cans out on Sunday morning and we had high winds on Sunday morning. Had they been out since Friday? I had not noticed but you could not help but notice it on Sunday with some rolled in the streets and others toppled over.
It's not perfect but I think it works overall. Good luck to Toledo.
