North Las Vegas Celebrates 60th Birthday

Happy Birthday North Las Vegas....The city of North Las Vegas is celebrating its 60th birthday.  Incorporated in 1946 when the population was a mere 3,000, the city is now the 3rd fastest growing large city in America (U.S. Census Bureau).  Today its population is over 190,000 and by the year 2030 it is excepted to reach close to 500,000.

The Las Vegas Convention and Visitor’s Authority (LVCVA), the Official Host of NBA All-Star 2007, unveiled yesterday the "official logo" for the game.  The game is scheduled for February 18, 2007.  Bookmark this blog for further details on this game

Nevada Ranks Third in Hispanic Business Boom

Every economy needs fresh fuel to keep growing and new numbers from the US Census Bureau show Nevada ranks third for growth in Hispanic owned businesses. Topping the list is New York followed by a tie between Rhode Island and Georgia

 

About 25 percent of the Valley's population is Hispanic and as the Valley grows overall, so do those numbers. Affordability and job availability have drawn many to the service and construction industries. Now, Hispanics are starting to develop their own companies.

Two of the Fastest Growing Counties in Nevada

Lyon and Nye Counties in Nevada are on the list of Top 10 fastest growing counties in the United States. Statistics from the U.S. Census Bureau reported that Lyon County (near Carson City) ranks #2 in growth. Nye County (near Las Vegas and the home of Pahrump) is listed at #6 in growth.

 

The complete list of fastest growing counties between 2004 and 2005 include:

  1. Flagler County, Florida (north of Daytona Beach)
  2. Lyon County, NV (near Carson City)
  3. Kendall County, Ill (outside of Chicago)
  4. Rockwell County, TX (near Dallas)
  5. Washington County, Utah (120 miles north of Las Vegas)
  6. Nye County, NV (100 miles north of Las Vegas)
  7. Pinal County, AZ (near Phoenix)
  8. Loudon County, VA (suburb of Washington, DC)
  9. King George County, VA (suburb of Washington, DC)
  10. Caroline County, VA (near Richmond)
