Sprint-Embarq: Are You Being Overcharged?

Posted at 2:45 PM, Jul. 17, 2006

I had an interesting conversation (via e-mail) with my cell phone provider last week.   As most of you know Sprint was recently changee to Embarq.   I have used Sprint for A LONG time, not just as my cell phone provider but also as my home and office phone provider.

On my cell phone, as on most cell phones, there is/was 'unlimited minutes' after 9pm at night.   I opted to pay an additional $5.00 a month to have my unlimited time-frame start at 7pm.   Several months ago, about the time of the merge, I noticed advertising on television and on Sprint-Embarq's web site that their unlimited time for everyone is now 7pm.  I think ''that's nice" and go on my merry way.  Low and behold a couple months later I'm looking at my bill and notice that I am still being charged for that $5 per month.   So I go to the Sprint-Embarq web site and send an e-mail to customer service.  Their response to this?

"The plans are not automatically upgraded by the system.  They are upgraded only at the request of the customers.  Therefore, the existing customers do not get this feature automatically added but only at their
request."
Nice, eh?  NOT.  Great "customer service?"  NOT
Just be forewarned and if you had previously chosen this option either call or e-mail Embarq and let them know you want this monthly charge eliminated from your bill.
