What's in a Name

Posted at 9:45 PM, Oct. 28, 2006

Have you ever "googled" your name?  It can be interesting.  I read this article today "Who's Googling You?" in an online real estate "magazine".  When I "googled" Mary Warren I found out that I was a witch in a former life who was burned at a stake in 1692 (I already knew this).  I also found out I have a "twin" in Maryland, another REALTOR® with the same name. Her website is www.MaryWarren.org as opposed to one of mine www.MaryWarren.com.  Before doing business with a person "google" their name and see what you can find out about them!

PRICES CORRECTING, BUYERS RETURNING TO MARKET

Posted at 9:32 PM, Oct. 12, 2006

Home sales appear to be bottoming out with lower home prices attracting buyers in many areas of the country, according to NAR. Existing-home sales are forecast to be fairly stable in the fourth quarter and sales for all of 2006 are expected to drop 8.9% to 6.45 million--still the third strongest year after consecutive records in 2004 and 2005.  New-home sales are forecast to fall 17.3% this year to 1.06 million, the fourth highest year on record.  Housing starts should be down 10.9% to 1.84 million in 2006. "Many potential home buyers who have been taking a wait-and-see attitude or taking their time and being methodical in the search process are being enticed by lower home prices," said David Lereah, NAR's chief economist.  "Given a positive economic backdrop of lower interest rates and job creation, we expect sales activity to pick up early next year." New construction continues to flourish in Las Vegas.  Each month approximately 25 new subdivisions open their doors and a similar number close their doors as sales are concluded.  Many builders today are offering incentives to buyers.    You can visit my web sites at either www.MaryW.com or www.MaryWarren.com and click on the link to new homes.  This will lead you to up-to-date information on new homes in Las Vegas. Also available are more than 15,000 floor plans for these new homes.   Contact me for further information.

EFFORT TO BOOST MILITARY HOME BUYING POWER

Posted at 2:01 PM, Oct. 1, 2006

Freddie Mac announced it is expanding its Home Possible affordable mortgage suite to boost the home buying power of nearly 1.5 million US military personnel in response to calls from Senator Ben Nelson (D-NE) of the Senate Armed Services Committee, the Hispanic War Veterans of America and different lenders to help more military families become homeowners. The Home Possible changes are expected to increase by as much as 30% the home buying power of members of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, and National Guard on active duty, in the reserves, or separated from their respective services by less than two years. "Today's announcement is good news for military families looking to own their own home and share in the American Dream they are fighting to protect for all of us," said Nebraska's Senator Ben Nelson.
