Motivational Words for the Day

Posted at 8:57 AM, Jan. 31, 2006

One of my favorite motivational speakers is Anthony Robbins. There's some mighty fine advice in these words.  This has been provided by the Anthony Robbins organization.

1. Give people more than they expect and do it  cheerfully.

2.  Marry a man/woman you love to talk to. As you get older, their conversational  skills will be as important as any other.
3.  Don't believe all you hear, spend all you have or sleep all you want.
4.  When you say, "I love you," mean it.
5.  When you say, "I'm sorry," look the person in the eye.
6.  Be engaged at least six months before you get married.
7.  Believe in love at first sight.
8.  Never laugh at anyone's dream. People who don't have dreams don't have much.
9.  Love deeply and passionately. You might get hurt but it's the only way to live  life completely.
10.  In disagreements, fight fairly. No name calling.
11.  Don't judge people by their relatives.
12.  Talk slowly but think quickly.
13.  When someone asks you a question you don't want to answer, smile and ask, "Why  do you want to know?"
14.  Remember that great love and great achievements involve great  risk.
15.  Say "bless you" when you hear someone sneeze.

16.  When you lose, don't lose the lesson.
17.  Remember the three R's: Respect for self; Respect for others; and  responsibility for all your actions.
18.  Don't let a little dispute injure a great friendship.
19.  When you realize you've made a mistake, take immediate steps to correct  it.
20.  Smile when picking up the phone. The caller will hear it in your  voice.

21.  Spend some time alone.

Depression Day - January 24

Posted at 6:37 PM, Jan. 24, 2006

Did you know that January 24th is the one day of the year that touts the most depressed people?  It's true!  It has been clinically researched (has everything?).  It can be blamed on many things from being the weather, the dead of winter, Christmas bills coming due, or tax time being just around the corner.  Don't let yourself be a statistic....put a smile on your face and get out there and BE HAPPY!

Business Planning and Motivation

Posted at 9:29 PM, Jan. 20, 2006

Today I had the opportunity to attend an all day seminar/class on business planning.  I always try to take in something like this during January to help with my motivation and goals for the year.  This was by far one of the the best I've attended.   Hosted by another real estate company in Las Vegas it was taught by Dave Jenks, co-author of "The Millionaire Real Estate Agent."  Most of what I learned can be used by others who are not Real Estate Agents and I thought I would share some with you....

  • Create a personal plan and make process your focus (revisit your plan constantly)
  • Time block to get your focus - priorties on calendar (don't forget to block time for yourself)
  • Get accountability to keep your focus - find someone to keep each other accountable - 10% written goals, 10% action plans, 80% accountability; 2-3 days a year to plan for next year (personal and business), 2-3 hours per month to refocus; and, 20-30 minutes per week to plan.
  • Make sure your enviroment supports your focus
  • Keep your energy to maintain your focus. (Mediate and pray - spiritual energy; exercise and eat - physical energy; hug, kiss, laugh - emotional energy;  plan and calendar focus - mental energy; and lead generate - business energy).
