Las Vegas Nevada Weather

Posted at 8:33 PM, Jul. 9, 2007

The time was 5:30 P.M. Sunday evening...the temperature in Las Vegas as you can see from the sign was a sizzling 116°.  According to "The Weather Channel" thing on my website the current temperature is 104° and it's 8:30 P.M....ya gotta LOVE it!  It's DRY heat...enough to shrivel one's bones!

Although it's warm in Las Vegas for a few short months out of the year, you can't beat the rest of the year!  Cool nights, sunny days are the norm 8-9 full months a year.  It is not uncommon to see many a tourist in our 'winter months' wearing shorts and tank tops and right behind them seeing a 'local' bundled up as if they were in snow country!

Frankly, I would rather deal with the warm weather in Las Vegas during the summers than to deal with shoveling snow in the east in the winter!

This picture was taken at the corner of Desert Inn and Boulder Highway, in east Las Vegas, on 7/8/07.

Hi I know our weather here was very hot. It's got up too 116.  Let me tell you that was hot.  I do know I'm thankful for air conditioning.

I realize it's been HOT everywhere east of the Mississippi this summer.  It has cooled down quite a bit in Las Vegas with our monsoonal flow coming through and leaving some rain.  We were actually able to sleep with the a/c off and the doors/windows open a couple nights this week.  The temp right now is right at 100F (38C)...not too bad for the end of July!  You have to remember too that when it does get hotter here that it's a 'DRY HEAT', makes all the difference in the world! HA
