The Trees!

Posted at 10:35 AM, Oct. 21, 2005

The tree, fence, and landscape lloss due to Katrina and Rita is a daily reminder to those who are literally seeing their neighbor's homes for the first time.

As hard as it is to adjust to the new landscape and the very real increase in sunlight, the economic and environmental impact is significant.  The Texas Forestry Service has a significant website with a great deal of recovery information.

The LSU Ag center estimates over $600 million in tree loss from Katrina alone.

removing 500 trees

Posted by Anonymous at 4:34 AM, Dec. 7, 2005

FEMA spent two weeks removing trees from our neighbors' land. But, because our place is a little harder to get to, they would not remove the 500 trees down on our property. We don't have $50,000 to have it removed. One of us is a teacher. The other is a therapist whose business was in New Orleans and is now rebuilding her practice on the Northshore. Besides feeling tremendous grief over the loss of the trees themselves and our streardship of them for may years, we are now faced with a seemingly impossible task of removing them. If anyone knows how we might proceed, please let us know. Thank you. Susan 985/893-8027.

500 Trees

Have you considered selling the trees to a logging company? The amount of work required to move 500 trees would be staggering. These companies could make quick work of it and hopefully you can have some sort of compensation to help with rebuilding your lives. God bless you and your family as you put your lives back together.
