June 18th, found my husband Don and I leaving Pelican Bay and traveling to Chicago to attend a wedding and visit family and friends. I like to say that I served 43 years in Chicago because I know how Chicago weather can be. Before we left I joked with a friend that because the Wilbers were coming to Chicago, it would probably snow.
Well, it did not snow, however it HAILED the first morning we were in town. I took this video to prove that it did actually hail in June in Chicago. When you view this video, make sure your speakers are on so you can hear the hail pinging off my brother's BBQ grill!
At least the day of the wedding was sweltering but nice. I was happy that the Bride and Groom did not get rain on the day of the wedding. I also had a chance to see the new Modern Art building of the Chicago Art Institute. While it was great to see old friends and visit with family, I was glad to return to Pelican Bay. While we may swelter in Naples in the summertime, at least we have the Gulf of Mexico and pools to cool off in when we get too hot.

While I was out of town, a contract came in on my listing in Pelican Bay at 2100 Lambiance Cir #101 and I took another listing in L'Ambiance at 1400 Lambiance CIR #101. I also listed 6895 Rain Lily RD #103, which is in Calusa Bay just East of Goodlette and just South of Vanderbilt. I am fascinated that I have scheduled appointments with buyers that will be arriving in Naples in the next few weeks. Has the market actually hit bottom? I certainly hope so!

It appears that the inventory has decreased, however, the number of unsold units have also increased. Pending and Solds have increased slightly.
By the end of July, I should have all the statistics together to evaluate the first half of 2009 for Pelican Bay real estate activity.
The May 2009 real estate sale report for Naples shows the under 300K price range booming. Other price ranges are showing a decrease in the number of sales from May 2008 to May 2009.
FYI - The Pelican Bay Foundation has made a changes in the charges for lease applications. If you lease your unit, you may want to take a moment to review these changes.
If you plan to be in town for the 4th of July, the Sandpiper Restaurant is having a 4th of July BBQ, which will run from 11:30 AM - 8:00 PM. $12.95 for adults and 6.50 for children. There will also be entertainment at the Sandpiper that day. The beach should be a fun place to be on the 4th.
