My husband, Don, and I recently returned from a trip to Chicago. We both find it hard to leave Pelican Bay, especially in the summer when the Gulf waters are so warm. Family brings us back to Chicago and this time we returned for my younger brother James's retirement party.
While we were there, Don and James made a trip to downtown to visit Willis' Tower skydeck's Ledge. I took a pass on walking on The Ledge’s glass boxes which extend out 4.3 feet from the skyscraper’s Skydeck on the 103rd floor. Don of course couldn't resist seeing the view.
He also could not resist walking out onto The Ledge!
Yes, he IS knelling on a glass floor.
While Don and James were having fun on The Ledge, I was at the Art Institute with a good friend enjoying Impressionist art. We all met up later at The Bean in Millennium Park.
We all had dinner that evening at The Greek Isles. This is one of our favorite restaurants in Chicago. While Naples has some Greek restaurants, they are not the same as The Greek Isles.
While my sister-in-law and I prepared for my brother's party, James and Don went fishing on Lake Michigan.
My brother James LOVES to fish. Every time he visits us in Naples he heads over to the Sandbar beach in Pelican Bay and sets up his pole by the mouth of Clam Pass. He rarely catches anything we can eat. Maybe because he went fishing in home waters he and Don came back with a cooler filled with lake trout and some salmon.
I managed to capture a sunset while I was up in Chicago land!
The night before we left Chicago, my family went into the city to visit our nephew Adam who is now working at McGee's Tavern and Grill.
McGee's Tavern & Grill's gain is my loss. Adam had worked for me last summer. I will miss his help and his company.
We had a wonderful time in Chicago. I did end up coming back with a horrible sinus/cough cold that I am still trying to shake. I miss not being able to go to the Gulf and swim each evening. One of the things Don and I love about living in Pelican Bay is the ease of going to the beach every evening after work. Hopefully I'll be back in the water soon!
