Looking for a little Piece of Heaven?

Table Rock Lake has always been known as one of the premier lakes in the U.S. of A. It is an Army Corps of Engineers lake, being that it was conceived and constructed, via a dam, by the Corps. The Dam construction was started in 1954 and completed in August of 1958. Why was the lake constructed?...to generate power and provide flood control. The lake is 75 miles long with a shoreline of 745 miles. Located in the heart of the Ozarks, with lake depths reaching 500’ in some places, the lake is enjoyed by water enthusiasts, fisher-people, boaters, skiers and wake boarders and those that just enjoy good views.

Real estate in our area has always enjoyed “good times” no matter what the economy (real estate or financial) is in the rest of the country. Long a destination of families, vacationers and retirees, Table Rock Lake has a history as a family-oriented lake. The lake never freezes, and swimming can normally be enjoyed from May thru October. My son and I have a long-standing tradition of  “last man in the water in October, wins”!

The Corps owns our lake and controls the building along the perimeter of the lake up to 931’ above sea-level. I did say “sea-level” even though the sea is a long way from the Ozarks! The measurement is now determined by GPS (Geographic Positioning Satellite). This measurement is supposedly above a flood line for a 100 year flood. This year, Spring of 2008, the lake was determined to exceed the normal level and rose above the 931’ mark set by the Corps. That being said, it is currently receding daily, taking us back to our normal lake level.

If you are just exploring for a good place to retire, vacation, buying a second home, or just plain moving for good and ever, you’ve started looking in a great area! Check out my website: www.LoannBarter.com for additional information about our area. Beauty abounds all around, lots to do, plenty to see and one of the top ten lakes in the U.S. of A.!!! Come on down!!!
