Live In Los Gatos

Yesterday I saw this beautiful lavender colored vine, wisteria, adorning an old home near St. Mary's Church in downtown Los Gatos (Almond Grove District area). The photo was taken with my Treo, so the quality is not great, but you get the feeling: perfect blue skies, vibrant colors, classic old Craftsman style home. A perfect spring day in Los Gatos.

In April, this blog featured an entry about a newcomer to the Los Gatos restaurant scene, Trevese. The building has the dubious honor of being one of the most notoriously haunted places in town, so that angle was the focus of the post.Aleta Watson of The San Jose Mercury News did a very thorough review of Trevese's dining experience and it was published yesterday. For those with a distinctive palate, this restaurant sounds like a must! http://www.mercurynews.com/restaurants/ci_6051064

Fairview Plaza feels like a step back in time - and in many ways, it is. This little neighborhood is so quaint and unique that it seems perfect for a movie set. Located close to downtown and equally close to huge expanses of open space, it enjoys its own park, has an interesting history and is enough off the beaten path that it goes largely undisturbed. A prized part of Fairview Plaza is the Clara Huntington Perkins house, which was designed by Julia Morgan in about 1918-1919.
