Stay Away From House Values - Dec. 8, 2006

DO NOT do business with house values.

They sell leads like this:  "surfers who stumble onto a graphic link with no
interest in real estate at all".  "College students writing reports"',
"financial bottom feeders with no credit hope".  "John Jones", "John
Public", "Mary Smith", Peanut Butter", all fictitious!  Worse yet, they sell
leads that other realtors have returned as junk.  They sell, sell, sell!

They promise everything you request in your attempt to understand their
contract for services.  Want proof?  Ask the salesperson to email an amended
contract containing your special terms included BEFORE you agree to do
business.  SURPRISE!!  They cannot amend the standard sale contract at all!!
They say your terms are perfectly OK, but a verbal agreement is what you
get.  An agreement with the telemarketer, who has no contracting authority
at all!! When you get smarter and cancel, then they sell your contract to a
collection agency!

House.com - a lesson learned - Dec. 16, 2006

Posted by Echo Farrell

What a fabulous Christmas gift. House.com promised but did not deliver- 2 days into our relationship 1/3 of our bought leads were ALL out of the area we bought 2 bogus, one rent, one trailer and a partridge in a pear tree. The cost roughly $3200. Who needs to throw away $3200 this time of year or anytime for that matter? When we complained about our leads customer service basically said,  in a very arragnont manner,  - well it will cost you a lot of money to cancel, you have no basis to cancel and no three day right of recession.  No mention of how to better the situation. We decided to write a letter to the owner of the company, Dan Parisi.  We did a little checking. It turns out that House.com is the brainchild of Dan Parisi, who won fame for putting out the www.Whitehouse.com porn site. Parisi also received attention for taking out $100,000 worth of “sucks” URLs (i.e. www.lockheedsucks.com), with the apparent intent of having corporations and politicians buy them back.  Mr. Parisi might be very good in the SEO world, but he won't last long in the real estate lead business.  I fully intend to bring this company to the attention of NAR, BBB and the attorney general.

Lesson learned:  Do your homework first.  But do not do business with this company

I have been a client of HouseValues ( just listed.com) for over two years and have just cancelled my membership.  The quality of the leads was poor.
