Get my homes value .com more like dot rip off!!! - Jan. 17, 2007

Anyone heard of GetMyHomesValue.com?

Yes sorry to say I have dealt with them, no there were no closed deals.
All of their "leads" were people who just wanted a free service. They
wanted to get their homes value from a real estate expert and not
pay a darn thing for it.

When I called to cancel my contract with the company I asked what
they were going to pay me for doing their business for them?
Choose who you sign up with carefully, and if you don't like
giving away free service, charge the consumer for it. We as real estate
professionals work for money. Our time is never free, once you start
giving away services where do you draw the line. I did this by telling
the person calling from Get my homes value.com. That yes I would give
them a free evaluation, if they would just sign a listing agreement with
me for 6mos to a year.

If they are serious about selling their house they will sign, if they just
want a free service they will not. If they also do not want a face to face meeting,
this also means they just want a free service. I started charging a flat fee if
someone called from that certain .com. and wanted a value on their home.

Maybe you should do the same thing. But the leads you will get are often
times pretty cold ones. They do not want to pay anything for a service that
was advertised for free. I really don't like that company. Talk to your broker
about good companies to work for. Most of the times they give great
advice. My broker told me to ask what the .com would give to me, what will
it do for you.

The answers might amaze you

Hi Alicia,

Glad you posted this.  Let me first tell you that I work for HomeGain so my response will obviously be semi-biased but is only meant to be informative and from the source!  I can also link you up with a few agents already using our products if you would like some first hand feedback.

At HomeGain, the customer is you, the Real Estate professional. We really strive to build tools into our product offerings that enable you to get the leads you need, work them in your pipeline and hopefully close deals. If you don't succeed then we don't either.

We are aware of all the tire kicker folks out there only concerned with getting an estimate of their home’s value and seeing comparables in the area. This is whey we resurrected our free home valuation service, you can check out the beta site here: http://prices.homegain.com/

With this instant valuation service, we fulfill the needs of the consumer who simply wants to do a quick value check.  After the initial computer-generated estimate, the consumer is encouraged to request a professional comparative market analysis from a local REALTOR® - this means more qualified leads for you. This new tool reinforces our message to consumers that HomeGain in the place to come when looking for a REALTOR®.

If you are new to our site, we have four products to choose from:

I signed up with GetMyHomesValue.com.  They guaranteed me 2-10  "scrubbed" and screened leads per month.  I got one weak lead in two months time.  When I tried to cancel my month to month agreement, they made me pay an additional month or they would send it to collections.  Terrible experience.  I have worked with HouseValues and gotten several sales from it.  Don't waste your time and money on these guys...rip off!!!

I was interested in trying this lead generation program and made it very clear that I wanted to try it for one month to see the results.

They charged my credit card over the phone and then when I went to access the website, since it is an internet based platform, they asked me to 'click to accept' some terms with which I was not in agreement with.  1) They wanted me to accept a recurring charge to my credit card, and 2) They wanted me to agree to a Cancellation/Refund Policy they I did not agree with.  It was very difficult dealing with them.  I have disputed the $345 charge to my credit card and hope to get the charge reversed, and I have not accessed the service at all! (due to the fact that one cannot access the service without 'click to accept'ing their terms.

This is a sham business organization.  I have much better things to do with my time than this (posting complaints) and resolving issues with someone misrepresenting their services, having already spent more than 2 hours on the phone trying to resolve the issue.     UGH!

Beware!

I am in the process of disputing a charge against my credit card by this organization.  I cancelled according to their cancellation policy, was offered a reduced fee if I would stay.  I did not accept their offer, and guess what, they charged my credit card for the next month.

These people talk a great game, but within two weeks I had "verified" leads from people that did not want to sell or buy a home.  They were looking for a free evaluation.  This is not lead generation, it is providing misinformation to the public and the real estate agent who is looking to generate income during this terrible market is taken for a ride.

I will not give them the satisfaction of writing off the additional $199.00 they charged my credit card.  I also posted a complaint with The Squeaky Wheel (thesqueakywheel.com).  They are bombarding Get My Homes Value with requests for information.  This is the $5.00 I spent in a long time.  Check it out.
