Sep. 20, 2007 - 2007 Japanese Festival at MOBot Gardens |
I finally
figured out how to upload from Picasa to the web! I'd taken these
photos at the Japanese Festival. I couldn't figure
how to get them where I could easily share them with you.
It's a yearly event that is so much fun and draws a huge
crowd for the 3 days it's here! We viewed the
Bonsai and Ikebana exhibit
(photos follow) and then headed to see the SUMO
Wrestlers! We had such a good time! Laughing and wondering
too, how anyone (or WHY?!) would want to get so big! It was
pretty hot here in St. Louis. Wait til you see the big vs little
guy competion. Actually the little guy was pretty well built and
good looking too! We'd had several weeks of above 90 degree
temps, but funny thing. When you're at the Gardens, it never seems
too hot! I hope you enjoy the photo's as much as I did taking
them! The festival took place Sept. 1- Sept. 3, 2007. Be sure to
schedule a trip here when you can!

Sep. 20, 2007 - Fun In St Louis City |
What a great way to
see the different parts of the City of St. Louis!
Check out Frontyard
Features for a fun forty
evenings of forty movies shown on a BIG Screen!
Granted, I'm giving
you this information a bit late, but you still have time to take
part. Check it out and tell me what you think about this
idea. This is giving people time to get out and meet one another at
various parks within
the city and get reacquainted with friends and neighbors.
HAVE
FUN! |

Sep. 19, 2007 - Update on Yard Art |
Well, here we go again! Our
community paper WEST Newsmagazine had an article about Lewis
Greenberg and his "Yard Art". Residents in the subdivision where
Mr. Greenberg lives has filed complaints regarding "littering". The
fuss is all about the quantity of twisted metal, decorated tree
branches, rocks and what-nots strewn about the front/back/side
yards/trees/porch. When I last spoke to him, he'd said he had lots
more inside too.
Only 9% of the residents
didn't sign the petition demanding the artist remove the
debris/art. Part of the problem is simply this; when a neighbor
want to sell a home, most buyers do not look favorably on this
property, which to my mind, looks cluttered. In addition, I would
not like having lights turned on the property from dusk to dawn,
lighting up the street! I have to say this though, he does
keep the grass cut. It makes you want to say...please, just try to
be a good neighbor. This would not have been a problem, in my
opinion, if the subdivision indentures had covered it in the first
place.
This of course is not a
finished story and I'll update you if any thing changes. But for
now, Mr. Greenberg has been cited for littering. |
