HEY, MISSOURI!

Got a gripe, that's not been satisfied? Want to check out all the complaints that have surfaced by other Missourians? Check to see if any of these "bad guys" are migrating your way! We (Missourians) have a new web site for you to make checking things out a bit easier. KnowMO This site will provide easy access day or night. Fewer phone calls will allow the Attorney Generals staff to get more work done on other projects. If you need to call them though, call The Consumer Protection Hotline: 1-800-392-8222 on weekdays between 8 a.m. & 5 p.m. The information provided dates back to Jan.1, 2004 and all new complaints will be added.  Enjoy the site!

Jul. 29, 2007 - StLouisAreaGreatForSellers

I hope you all read the (finally!) positive comments made by the staff reporter, Matt Woolsey, of Forbes.com regarding the St. Louis area! Due to their copyright requirements & privacy policy, you'll need to do a search for the specific video or text. Click the above link & just use the key words "Top Home Selling Markets" or "Housing Trends" to locate the information. Like I've said before, "Bubble, What Bubble?" Not here in our river city. We still offer you one of the best areas to live and buy in! Welcome to our Mid-Western values & friendliness. Don't like the weather? Wait a day or so...you never know what's on the horizon! LOL!

Did you ever notice that the media seldom is regional specific? Lump all of us together, let the folks hear things are not going well. Watch the market begin to slump. Gloom & Doom! I swear, it's like watching the weather report. Do people still believe what they (media) tell you (in Missouri?) "SHOW ME" is our state motto!  We live in an area that is difficult to predict weather. We don't fit in the East/West coast mold. Question exactly where they are getting their numbers from and to what area it applies. Like I said, "Show Me"!

Jul. 24, 2007 - Maplewood/MinionsCafe

What a great time we had in Maplewood, MO Saturday evening. A couple of friends & I went to Minion's Cafe for dinner and a skit that featured, Marjoram Fennel (aka Linda Spall). Dinner was a choice of three entree's and included drinks (bring your own wine!) and dessert. Every thing is homemade and yummy!        If you'd like to give it a try..They have music on week-ends (call for time/dates) and then there is "Marge". What a "hoot"!  If you liked "Keeping Up Appearances" (PBS), you'll love Marge! She kept us all in stiches with her antic's. She's a one-woman show that specializes in comedy. I hope you'll make an effort to see her in action and have as much fun as we did. The whole audience was laughing and thoroughly enjoyed the show. You'll never think of cooking as boring again!

MINIONS CAFE (7322 Manchester Road, Maplewood, MO - 314-781-4800)

MINIONS CAFE cost is $45 show/dinner (dinner at 7:30 show at 8:00 pm - BYO Wine) The Cafe is presenting Cooking with Marge on Saturdays [August 4, 11, 18, 25] at 7 PM. Cooking with Marge is a comedy dinner theatre starring Linda Spall as Marge.

Picking the Winner (Audience Participation)

We chose Chicken Picatta, wild rice & veggies. The desserts are served at intermission along with free refills of the drinks. Desserts for the 3 of us were samples of ALL the desserts. We enjoyed sampling and choosing our favorites! The owner also does catering so you might want to keep that in mind, if you enjoy their dinners.  Now THAT's Entertainment!

Jul. 24, 2007 - ThePhotographersRights

Hi Everyone!

I recently read some comments about what kind of photos you can and can't take with out having to get "permission" to publish those photos. So many different/various viewpoints as to what you can or can not do! I was confused!

I'd recently taken some photos at the Clarkson Woods annual subdivision parade and posted them on this site. After reading the comments, I was somewhat concerned that I shouldn't have done that. Luckily, someone referred us to The Photographer's Rights, which you too can view by clicking those words. It'll lead you to Bert P. Krages (an attorney) site and he's agreed that I could link to it, but not to "copy" it. It is a copyrighted form.

He's written several books too, which some of you may be interested in reading also. At any rate, I found that I CAN (& have) post those photo's with out recourse. I hope you'll take a moment or two and enjoy the Parade, even though its over! Enjoy!

Jul. 6, 2007 - ClarksonWoods_chesterfield_mo

A great time was had by all at the Annual Clarkson Woods subdivision parade. This subdivision is in Chesterfield, Mo. A growing West County community of many professionals and a few older residents that can still remember what the town was before it became a booming area. It now features malls and hi-fashion boutiques, nearby Interstate 64 (40), and the Spirit of St. Louis Airport.

So many neighbors, friends, relatives, kids & dogs showed up it made for a fun morning for all that attended!  Many other local subdivisions have parades too, inviting the fire department to provide their fire truck for the enjoyment of the kids and adults too!  I hope you'll enjoy this tour that I put together and get a feel for what happens here in the Midwest.   Click: Clarkson Woods

Jul. 6, 2007 - Going Green

Going Green..and helping our environment.

It seems like we’re finally hearing about a small but mighty force behind the attempt to make a positive change to doing what’s good for the environment. That should also mean it’s good for all of us too! “Global warming” is getting to be a conversation starter.
It’s working into our conversations on a daily basis and I’m seeing a lot of articles written addressing these issues.
This weekend (7/7/07) some folks are having a global concert which will last 24 hours. I hope you'll take time to watch, enjoy, learn and act on what you can do to help. We are in crisis mode now and each thing you and I do, CAN make a difference. Choose to make a difference! For more information about the concert click here.

Growing carbon dioxide (CO2) in the atmosphere is contributing to the warming of our earth and providing us with hotter summers and warmer winters. Each of us is responsible for some of that happening and we can all help in our own small way. We each leave a “carbon footprint”. A Carbon Footprintis a measure of the impact human activities have on the environment in terms of the amount of green house gases produced, measured in units of carbon dioxide. You can check your carbon footprint on the web by clicking here or here .

If you’re wondering what you can do as an individual, here are some ideas you might consider. Yes, you CAN make a difference!

The first and best way to help is to use your car less or modify your driving habits a bit. Try making a list of the places you need to go and do it in an orderly fashion. Make one trip out of it. Don’t speed and you’ll get better gas mileage and save at the pump too.

Walk or run to the gym; leave the car at home. Those feet were made for walking! You’ll get in better shape as a side benefit.

Keep your vehicle in good working order. A clean air filter and properly inflated tires can reduce pollution and improve gas mileage. (saving you more money!)

Ride bikes! Do you remember how?

Use a local car wash that is committed to being a “Green” provider. A local “Crystal Clear Car Wash” dealer is located in Webster Groves, Missouri. http://www.crystalclearwash.net/ They use environmentally friendly cleaning solutions, recapture all pollutants attached to the car and use 60 gallons of water to wash the car rather than 120 if you do it yourself! To learn more about it, click here.

Use regular tap water rather than buy bottled water. You'll save putting more plastic into landfills or requiring it to be recycled. Here in St. Louis County, Missouri, we have the best water around! Save your money!

Buy products with less packaging. (It uses more CO2 to make that packing)

Purchase “Energy Star” products and appliances that use energy more efficiently.

Recycle: The more you reuse, the less energy is spent recreating and creating new goods.

Buy local, “in season”, produce and product to reduce the amount of shipped goods. When buying a few groceries, take your cloth or string bag to use. When buying lots of groceries, ask for paper (it's already been recyled!).

Purchase the new low energy light bulbs. They cost more up front, but will last longer and will save you 20% over the cost of the old style bulbs!

Turn off the lights and other energy eating items in your home when they are not being used. Unplug the items not frequently used as they continue to use electric even when turned off.

If you’re having a new home built, talk to them about using energy efficient appliances, building supplies (flooring) and possibly even solar water heater for home/pool. http://www.carbonfootprint.com/solar_water.html Did you know that carpet is being made using corn? It’s soft, great looking and long wearing.

You may not do everything on the list, but you CAN do something. Like the old saying, Waste Not, Want Not!

If you have other ideas as how to help, make your comment & watch the list grow!
