Trumpter Swans in Crosslake

Posted at Judy by Judy Hansen
Mar. 13, 2008

Over the weekend of March 8th trumpeter swans could be seen from Highway 36 in Crosslake where Highway 36 crosses the Pine River.  The trumpeter swans were loudly calling with their distinct trumpet call.  There is a canoe launch pull off site nearby that gave a good viewing place to watch the trumpeter swans.  The trumpeter swan is the largest waterfowl in the world.  They verged on extinction at one time but are coming back.  They are fun to watch.
