Bayside Historical Society, Historic Districts Council's League of Preservation Voters, and Queens Civic Congress on Thursday, October 22 will co-sponsor a free Preservation Symposium to discuss such preservation and land use issues as contextual rezoning, the landmark designation process, community facilities, and the effect that agencies such as the NYC Board of Standards and Appeals and the Department of Buildings has on neighborhoods..

The event will be held at 7 pm at the Officers' Club in Fort Totten Park (Bayside Historical Society's headquarters) and will feature a panel of experts, with discussion moderated by urban specialist Paul Graziano.  Among the panelists will be NYS Sen. Frank Padavan, NYC Councilmember Tony Avella, Kevin Wolfe, an architect and preservationist representing the Historic Districts Council; Christine Haider, a Community Board 11 zoning chair; and a representative of Queens Civic Congress.
