BAYSIDE HISTORICAL SOCIETY, HISTORIC DISTRICTS COUNCIL AND QUEENS CIVIC CONGRESS TO HOLD CANDIDATES' NIGHT
BAYSIDE, NY- -T he B ayside Historical Society, Historic Districts Council's League of Preservation Voters, and Queens Civic Congress on September 2 will co-sponsor a candidates' night where those running for City Council District 19 can give their views and answer questions about preservation and development issues, among other topics.
The event will be held at 7 p.m. in the tea room of the Officers' Club in Fort Totten Park (Bayside Historical Society headquarters) and is free and open to the community. Limited parking is available on site; additional parking is available in Little Bay Park (just outside the Fort Totten gate). Call to reserve: 718-352-1548.
City Council District 19 comprises a large section of northeast Queens, and includes the neighborhoods of Bayside, College Point, Auburndale, Beechhurst, Whitestone, Bay Terrace, Robinwood; parts of Flushing, Douglaston, and Little Neck. The NYC Primary Election will be held on September 15 th, and those vying for the seat (which is currently held by Councilmember Tony Avella, who will be running for mayor) include: Steve Behar, Tom Cooke, Dan Halloran, Jerry Iannece, Kevin Kim, Debra Markell, and Paul Vallone.
The Bayside Historical Society is located within Fort Totten Park, in Bayside, NY, and is easily
accessible by public transportation (Q13 or Q16 bus to Fort Totten) and by car: Cross Island Parkway North to exit 32 (Bell Blvd.).
