Bayside Historical Society to host Annual Holiday Dinner & Fundraiser

Nov. 19, 2008
Categorized in: Whats Happening in Bayside

The Bayside Historical Society will host its annual holiday dinner and concert fundraiser on Sunday, December 14, 2008 in the Library and Grand Ballroom of the beautifully-decorated Castle in Fort Totten Park, North Bayside, New York City.

This event will begin with a reception at 5 p.m. during which the costumed Merriweather Consort Renaissance Musicians will perform.  This instrumental ensemble from C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University specializes in recreating Medieval and Renaissance music on reproductions of string, wind, brass, and percussion instruments from those periods.

A piano concert by classical soloist Jordi Querol of Barcelona, Spain will then follow. Jordi Querol has studied at the New England Conservatory and has regularly performed at BHS' annual holiday celebrations for over a decade.  Finally, attendees will have an opportunity to join in an old-fashioned holiday sing-along with Shir Harmony, a New York metro-area performance duo.

This event features a buffet dinner, beverages and dessert.  Tickets are priced at $ 60 per person ( $55 for BHS members).  Tickets must be purchased in advance.  To reserve, call (718) 352-1548.

The Bayside Historical Society is dedicated to the preservation of Bayside in Northeast Queens county of New York City and offers a variety of cultural and educational programs for the community.  Visit the Society online at www.baysidehistorical.org.
