God Bless America! Why I Love Her with Special Fondness to Queens, New York |
What's so remarkable about America is that people from the earth's two hundred plus nations want and can come here to live and raise their children in peace and safety. Most Americans are immigrants just one or two generations removed and that diversity has made us a great nation. It takes courage and above average intelligence to leave your homeland and resettle permanently here in the U.S. The desires for a better life result in ample supply of creativity and innovation which not only benefit those immigrants but also America.
I believe that Queens County here in New York City is probably the most diverse place on the earth. Interacting daily with people of different cultures clearly makes us see that we have more in common than different. We all want a better life for our children and ourselves and most of us are willing to work hard to accomplish these goals. America is not perfect but if we try to better understand our diversity and treat each other with respect, we can expand what is great about our land while rectifying what is still wrong.
