The letter below was recently sent to the board of directors by a shareholder/owner of a cooperative apartment located in the Estates at Bayside co-op complex concerning newly installed Pella windows.
Dear Board Members,
It is indeed a real pleasure to write this letter of appreciation to your attention regarding the recent installation of Pella double pane, energy star windows into my cooperative apartment.
I have been a shareholder with the Estates at Bayside Owners co-op complex since 1998. Each winter, I saw firsthand the poor quality of my apartment windows as shades and blinds within my unit moved by themselves as wind outside produced chilly drafts by each of these poorly installed, cheap windows. I can only imagine the cost of wasted heat that pass from these windows to the outside air.
Since the installation of my Pella windows, I no longer feel chilly drafts and another interesting feature is that outside noises have been significantly reduced.
I was extremely impressed with your management and maintenance staff (particularly Dominick Signorile) who were actively involved in overseeing the removal of my old windows and weather-worn and water-damaged framing while exercising extremely care so my furniture and personal belongings were not harmed.
Also, what was remarkable was the professional problem-solving abilities of your engineer, Mario Guitelman, and your general contractor, David Keyser of Imperial Resources. As they began to remove my old windows, the window frames and surrounding wooden supports literally crumbled in their hands. They were surprised by these severely damaged framing supports. They put their professional expertise together and quickly came up with a very viable solution using 2” x 8” wood beams to completely rebuilt each window frame. If they didn’t undertake this extra step then there was a definite likelihood that cold winds would still sneak around these new windows and undercut their energy savings.
David Keyser’s construction crew worked fast while carefully protecting my personal belongings. When they finished each room, they removed all trash and then thoroughly vacuumed them. It’s quite clear that David is a perfectionist and deeply concerned about leaving each construction site better than he found them. Each morning and late afternoon, he double-checked both outside my apartment and inside each room to make sure that all trash and debris had been thoroughly picked up. Furthermore, Dave arranged for window treatment representative to come by my apartment. He was able to get special discounted prices for various high quality blinds and I have ordered them already.
In conclusion, I highly commend everyone involved in this ambitious window replacement project and I would be remiss if I didn’t also praise all board members for arranging the funding for 4,700 windows without having to pass its million dollar plus cost onto shareholders as a special assessment.
Feel free to use this letter of praise in any way you feel appropriate to promote the quick installation of the balance of windows starting next spring. If any shareholder would like to see how my Pella windows look from the inside, give them my cell phone number and I will arrange for a mutually convenient time for them to stop by my co-op unit.
Very truly yours,
John Maniec
