THE SAN DIEGO HUMANE SOCIETY AND SPCA HAS A NEW HOME
Although my main focus is finding new homes for people, Rusty and I cannot forget about all the many stray and homeless animals who are looking for a new home and someone to love. I DONATE 3% OF EACH COMMISSION I RECEIVE TO THE SAN DIEGO HUMANE SOCIETY AND SPCA.
The SDHS and SPCA has a beautiful new home and has received national and local awards for outstanding achievements in innovative success in pet adoptions, fostering, spay and neutering programs for homeless and stray animals. Their new home boasts a new large Veterinarian Center for medical care of the animals. They have been awarded the Adoption Best Practices Award from the American Humane Association and the 2006 Better Business Bureau's Torch Award for Marketplace Ethics.
Their beautiful new facility, located at 5500 Gaines St, is an attractive and cheerful home for homeless animals. The San Diego Chapter of the ASID (American Society of Interior Designers) has contributed their talents and furnishings for homelike habitats for cats and dogs, complete with such homey comforts as couches, beds, tvs and radios. It is vastly different from the old depressing cages of the animal pounds many of us remember. Please visit the SDHS and SPCA the next time you are looking for a pet or want to bring an animal into your life. They give such wonderful unconditional love, friendship and happiness and all they ask in return is your love, a warm home, food, water and health care. It is very hard to turn away from a wagging tail and pleading eyes. Remember, "a man's best friend is his dog". Or maybe his cat. Or rabbit. Or bird. Do you have a pet? Write me about your "best friend".
Rusty and I thank you for caring for and loving your pets. Visit the SDHS and SPCA. There are many children's programs, humane education and pet training classes. There are also Pet-Assisted Therapy and pet loss support groups. For more information, Telephone: 619-299-7012.
