The Brighter Side to a Down Market |
I'm exhausted with the "dark cloud" hanging over the real estate market. So many down faces. Even some of the most upbeat Realtors are losing their spark. It doesn't have to be like this, people. There is a bright side to a declining market.
When I got into real estate 4 years ago almost every prospect I met wanted to buy but coudn't. Their credit was okay and they could be qualified for a loan. Only problem was that there wasn't a single home in their price range in the county.
Not so today. These are the people that can benefit from this market. These are the people who FINALLY get to realize their dream of home ownership. We should NEVER take that for granted.
I admit when I started seeing a lot of REO's come on the market, it made me sad to see the "lost dream". In fact, I still see it. This was a home. Now the dream is lost. The difference is that I've started looking at things with new eyes. Who can I help realize a new dream today? There are so many out there.
The divorcee looking for a new start - daring to dream that there is life after divorce.
The young 20-something looking to start - building that dream of starting a family.
The contractor who has plenty of time to remodel and rent - building that dream of retirement.
That convienence store cashier not even daring to dream - having her eyes opened to a whole new perspective.
We all know these people. Get out there and give them a little nudge. Help them with your knowledge. Plant the seed that can grow into a dream. No, it won't be easy. No, we won't get rich doing it. But it will be so worth the effort. We have the time. Why not put your worries on a shelf and go start building some dreams.
