COROLLA, N.C. (AP) — State officials and environmentalists are nearing a deal to build a 5-mile bridge to link an isolated island on North Carolina's Outer Banks with the mainland.

It seems like every other client that I speak to is either asking my what was the latest on the bridge, or telling me that they are making their strategies on the belief that the bridge is coming

DOT to take over Turnpike Authority Mid-Currituck Bridge won’t be affected

The state House approved legislation last week transferring the administrative functions of the seven-year-old Turnpike Authority to the DOT. The Turnpike Authority currently has charge of the estimated $600 million mid-county bridge project.

The start of the Mid-Currituck Bridge consturction has been delayed again, although it is claimed that this delay will not affect it's completion date of 2013.
