If you wonder whether or not you need video on your website, you do. Google is integrateing video in the search results, and there are very few well optimized videos on the video sharing sites like Youtube, and Google video. At the same time, video traffic to these sites is skyrocketing: from paidcontent.org:

"The audience for YouTube and other video sharing websites has risen sharply in the past year, with almost half of online adults logging onto such sites, reports a study from Pew Internet & American Life Project. In a national phone survey of 2,054 adults, 48 percent said they have visited a video sharing site, up from last year's 33 percent. Fifteen percent reported using a site like YouTube "yesterday", or the day before the respondent was contacted for the survey, compared to eight percent of users last year; this means the number of video site users has nearly doubled from the end of 2006 to the end of 2007. Of the demographic groups, daily traffic among high school graduates, women and respondents aged 30 to 49 has increased the most:

-The number of high school graduates using video sites increased 160 percent, jumping from five to 13 percent.
-Women's use increased 120 percent, from five to 11 percent.
-Use for those aged 30 to 49 increased 100 percent, from seven to 14 percent."

Now add to that the fact that there is an arbitrage because of Googles support for video in the search results: (see:

Google Integrates Web, Books, Local, Images, News and Videos as ...)

And you will realize that there is a brave new world coming.

As outdated as a turn of the century website would look to you now, you website likewise will be dead without video, but there is more: if given a choice to click a thimbnail to a video or a text link, see:

social media marketing system

Which one would you click, the text or the thumbnail?

What about the fact that the video starts to deliver your message as the page is loaded, and, in the case of our site, it doubled time on the site, doubled lead generation, reduced bounce rate by over 25%: see

A video never has a bad day, never shows up late for work, never over sleaps, ALWAYS GIVES A PERFECT PRESENTATION!

Please share you experiences here for all to read:

Israel, I agree about video.

We are using video on our own website, www.RealEstateTechnologyExperts.com, and we have seen huge response rates.

Our co-founder, Shay, just finished up a video series on "How to Dominate Google Using YouTube". It's for real estate agents to learn how to take home tours, integrate a compelling marketing intro and outro, and post to YouTube or TubeMogul (a video synidcation company).

They key is so many more people have broadband, I think video will just become a new "standard" on the internet.

Here is a related articel:

http://socialmediasystems.com/blog/traditional-advertising-agencies-have-conflicts-of-interests/

The probelm is that there is no incentive for a traditional agency to propose solutions that are long on developement costs and short on custodial income for them:

In this alrtice in Adweek by Brian Morrissey:

"I think traditional ad agencies have very little contribution to make," Bryan Simkins, a marketing specialist at FedEx, told TNS:

"They are mostly driven by their compensation models which are made for closed media. Those models don't apply in open media."

Not only is there a built-in probelm with the compensation method, there is also another inherent conflict of interests: ad agencies typically target a vertical market or two: that is they represent primarily a certain type of business: for instance doctors, manufacturing, retail…

But if I have more than one client seeking the same market share, who do I represent best?

We are so sure this is where the market gap is, that we are offering a solution:

I agree that video is more engaging, as some people are not big on reading. With respect to indexing in search engines, I suppose these search engines will have to simply rely on titles and tags.

On the contrary, modern formats allow for full meta data in the videos, they have titles, descriptions, key words.. and they display a thumbnail in search results!
