Five Myths: Hosted IDX Integration

Jun. 19, 2009
Categorized in: IDX Integration
Tagged with: hosted idx, iframe idx

Myth #1: Custom IDX integration is complex and time consuming.

No, it isn’t.  With IDX Broker your first “IDX Integration” is free. On the house. Sure, you paid for the product..but how often are you guaranteed a level of service after the purchase?

Most website integrations can go live within ten minutes. Some take more time due to complex html.

HTML integration that may seem difficult can be handled quickly by one of our knowledgeable technical support people. Leverage our integration experience and product knowledge to deliver a website that offers seamless IDX/MLS integration.

Myth #2: I have to integrate again each time I change my site design.

Not if you or your site developer use all the features in IDX Broker.

Great agents spend most of their time in the field, engaging buyers and sellers.  Others combine their field expertise with great writing skills. Rarely is a great agent also a prolific web developer. It’s all about time.

Know your expertise. You’re an agent, not a developer. If you want to create and manage a top-notch website, hire a developer.  Many great developers support IDX Broker’s custom CSS capabilities.

Some developers are skilled at managing ongoing integration and development. They are able to use IDX Broker to update hosted HTML automatically.

Myth #3: My visitors are concerned that my MLS pages are hosted on a different server.

False. Site visitors don’t care where your MLS content comes from – they care only that it’s timely and relevant content.

An integrated sub-domain looks no different from the original domain and it will only help in your overall SEO efforts by providing yet another path for relevant traffic to your website, much like hosted blog page.  The whole idea is to generate relevant targeted traffic to your website, via as many methods as possible.  An integrated IDX solution gives you the ability to increase your total SEO efforts without losing any branding control along the way!

Myth #4:  Property pages hosted in an iFrame send more search results to my website.

False.  iFrames, when not properly implemented, can actually hurt your search indexing efforts. Search engines may link directly to the content housed within the iFrame, rather than the page hosting the iFrame (your page).  In these cases, a site visitor won’t have a way to navigate to your website when finding that IDX page directly in the search engines.  When you have an integrated IDX page and a user goes directly to an indexed IDX page online, it will include all of your website navigation and branding.

Myth #5: My website’s search engine ranking will not increase if property pages are hosted elsewhere.

False. Property page results delivered to your visitors via an iFrame or via a subdomain are BOTH hosted elsewhere.  If a search engine discovers some content on mysite.com and other content on subdomain.mysite.com, it will treat each as unique content and index them both on your behalf.  The pages indexed will lead to your property details and those visitors will funnel into your lead management tab.

In fact, because the subdomain contains unique content AND is linked to your site, you benefit from search algorithms that reward your site for navigation back-links and affiliation with similar and unique content.

Conclusion:

The benefits of fully integrating your site far outweigh any of the risks:

  • All pages and tools automatically have the look and feel of your site.

  • No need to spend hours building additional HTML pages.

  • Setup includes initial integration.

  • Just as easy as using iFrames to install
