The Gene Molloy Real Estate Blog

Jun. 6, 2007 - Meet The Kids

I know that once upon a time that consumate real estate blogger from Kirkland, Washington, Ardell DellaLoggia posted pictures of her family on her blog.  Well, move over Ardell, I am filching your idea in a big way.

I mentioned I had a son in my last post.  No sooner had I posted it, then I got a call from him.  He was tipped off by my daughter.  It's nice to know that someone out there reads your blog but especially nice to know that your children read your blog.

So let me introduce you to the kids.  I won't have to tell you too much about each one because you can just click their links and find out about them for yourselves.  My first born would be my lovely daughter, Jamie Pietrzycki. Her name is not Molloy because she is married to Chris Pietrzycki.  They have a daughter Hannah, but I don't believe she has a website yet.  You can see her on her parents sites though.  Then comes my oldest son, Gene Molloy.  I just hope my sites come up before his in the search engine results, I wouldn't want anybody to get confused.  Last but not least there is my younger son Bryan Molloy.

So there you have it, all of my beautiful children have made it onto my blog.  Not only that, but you can even leave comments for them on their own individual sites.  Isn't it something how this wacky internet works, you put it out there and you never know where it's going to show up.  Should you happen to leave them any comments, tell them Pappy sent you.

As always, if you have found yourself receiving my blog postings via e-mail, it is because I have either blogged about you personally, blogged about something I know is of interest to you, or I consider you to be a person of deep thinking and intellect and I would love to have you occasionally commenting on my blog. If you would like to be removed from the list simply send me an e-mail saying so.

Jan. 12, 2007 - Gene's Board

Hey, Happy New Year everybody. I hope that things are going well for you. So far so good here.

What is Gene's Board, you ask. Well feel free to click the link and go there. Once you get there it's kind of self explanatory, but I will expound upon it in a minute. Why would I talk about it in my Real Estate Blog, you wonder. Well if you follow this blog you will already know that the term Real Estate Blog is used pretty, loosely and I do usually tie everything in, but sometimes not.

Anyway, Gene's Board is a community bulletin board that I put up for the use of anyone who wants to get the word out about something. I have it tied into my web sites in the hopes that people will go to it and actually use it. There are a few categories right now, such as an explanation of what it is (sort of my vision of what I hope it will become), For Sale (which did have a cool Mercedes posted in it, until it sold) Business Directory (which does have a couple of business posted in it) and today I added a Not For Profit Organizations category. That should have at least one organization posted in it soon.

Outside of word of mouth and the links on my web sites, I haven't quite figured out how to promote it though. That maybe explains the lackluster use it's been getting. I mean here I am offering what amounts to free Internet advertising to anyone who is interested in using it and it gets so little attention. That's why I thought I would blog about it. Maybe that will light the fire.

I realize that if someone should want a particular category added they would have to contact me to set it up, but that's OK, I don't bite. I love doing this stuff, so don't be shy.

As always, if you have found yourself receiving my blog postings via e-mail, it is because I have either blogged about you personally, blogged about something I know is of interest to you, or I consider you to be a person of deep thinking and intellect and I would love to have you occasionally commenting on my blog. Dec. 27, 2006 - Another Toy In The e-PROŽ Arsenal

As I am sure many of you know I hold the e-PRO® designation. For those of you who don't know what that is here is a little link

Because of all the kind and wonderful folks who gave me gift cards for my birthday and Christmas I was able to add another great tool to my business arsenal. I am now the proud owner of a Garmin® StreetPilot® c550. No more trying to read MapQuest directions while navigating in unfamiliar areas. No more wearing a blinking blue light on my left ear as I drive around. No more envying my friend Dennis who drives a Mercedes SUV with an in dash GPS.

This thing is great. It will find a route to whatever destination I ask it for as long as it's in the United States, Canada or Puerto Rico. It has traffic and weather alerts and will reroute me around any trouble spots. It has bluetooth and is compatible with my cell phone, turning my whole car into a rolling phone. One of the coolest things about that is, I can locate a point of interest (restaurant, shop, hotel/motel, etc.) and press call and it dials the place up because the points of interest are complete with phone numbers. Now I can call ahead with any questions I may have.

So, is this new tool/toy going to make me a better REALTOR®? I say yes, but that's just my not so humble opinion. I tell you what, give call and hire me to do a piece of work for you. That way we will know for sure.

Dec. 18, 2006 - Some More "Magic" For You

I don't know about you, but I am constantly having to send links to different places via e-mail. Many times when I want a client (that's who I mostly send links to) to get to certain page inside of a web site the URL is very long. That's because the page is buried so deep within the web site. When that happens I used to get replies to the e-mail complaining that the link did not work. That was because the link got broken inside the e-mail and as you know a URL must be correct to get you where you want to go. If not you end up with an error message in your browser or else on some web site you had no intention of visiting. Well my true and faithful readers, that no longer happens to me. I know about a bit of on line magic that has made the loooooong URL a thing of the past. You can check it out for yourselves at http://TinyURL.com .

As always, if you have found yourself receiving my blog postings via e-mail, it is because I have either blogged about you personally, blogged about something I know is of interest to you, or I consider you to be a person of deep thinking and intellect and I would love to have you occasionally commenting on my blog. May. 10, 2006 - Technologicaly Challanged?

Once in a while, every now and then, from time to time, I like to try and help support the independent business man or woman. I allow free access to Gene's Board to those who would like to take advantage of that. Unfortunately the board is soooooo under used. A few people take advantage of the fact that I allow comments on this blog, and there are some really good comments that are attributed to "anonymous". When "anonymous" speaks people listen. It's just too bad they don't have "anonymous's" contact information. And that is why I sometimes feel the need to push some good information your way.

What would a modern real estate practitioner, or anyone that uses cyberspace as an office for that matter, be without technological tools? And what good would those tools be if one did not have a technological genius available to keep them fine tuned and sharp? It's just a fact that in today's world, you just have to know a good IT guy. That's why I would like to take this opportunity to introduce you to Dave Savage. If you have computer glitches or if you need someone to build your custom made dream machine, check him out. And don't forget to tell him Gene sent you.

May. 8, 2006 - Just A Phone Call Away

You see it on my web sites. It's on my business cards. My direct mail efforts has it on them. It's in my e-mail signature. My yard signs have it on them. You can call me on it, fax me with it, and even use it to send me e-mails. It's (847) 440-7920.

It really doesn't matter where I am. It rings where I tell it to. I can be at home, at the office, in the car, at your house or in a condo in Florida, it doesn't matter. It's the only number you need to know in order to talk to me.

Sure I have a phone at home, but I don't take business calls on it. There is a phone at the office when I go there, but that's not MY number. Yes I have a cell phone, and it comes in very handy when I am away from land lines. I'm sure you would allow me to use your phone if I was at your house and I needed to make a call as well. The only problem I have with that is, if the party I am calling is not available, they might just redial from the caller id when they return my call, as I often do myself. If I have left your house I don't want to burden you with my calls. That's why wherever I am I can log into my number (847) 440-7920 and place the call. That is the number that would show up on the caller id. And why in the world would I want you to pay long distance charges to talk to me if I was out of state? I wouldn't. So just dial my local number.

So you see, you don't need to know five or six phone numbers to track me down with an important call or a fax. All you need to know is (847) 440-7920 and I am just one phone call away.

There is a lot more this powerful communication system does, but I am told that if I make my post too long I might lose your attention so why don't you just go to www.strictlycom.com and see what it can do. Maybe something like this can work for you as well and if so you should contact my guy David Byrd. You can e-mail him at MailTo:dbyrd@strictlycom.com or call him at (312) 242-1025. If you talk to him, tell him Gene sent you.
