What is "green" anyway?

This may be hard to see but look closely just to the left of the basketball free standing hoop.  There is a sprinkler going, watering dirt.  Problem, the sprinkler head is positioned 3 feet above the ground; it is 108 degrees at 5:10pm (Arizona time). This is one of my neighbors (about 600 feet away).

This morning I went for my morning walk and wished I'd taken my camera.  I walked past a trash can piled so high that trash was blowing all over the place (and I might add the trash was not biodegradable stuff).  I have come to the conclusion that my neighborhood (a county island just north of Phoenix) needs some "greening" and I don't mean solar panels, which they're not a bad idea.

Three months ago I completed the EcoBroker® Certification.  Until then, I was like everybody else believing that "green" was putting solar panels on your roof.  It's amazing how doing one thing (education) can open your eyes to so many wasted resources happening right before our eyes.  If we were to do more than one thing just imagine what we might notice.
