Real Estate: For Sale by Owners Have a Competitive Advantage
|
FSBO Advertise Homes on Television, Major Internet Portals
With the housing market in most parts of the United States currently heavily favoring buyers, homeowners who want to sell their homes face an uphill battle. For Sale by Owner (FSBO) properties often aren't marketed as aggressively as needed, because of the often-expensive cost of advertising or because of the marketing inexperience of the seller. Now, there is good news for homeowners selling their homes without the aid of a real estate agent: They can advertise their homes on Search Homes on TV (SHOTV), a weekly television program that began its run on DirecTV Satellite Network in early January.
Search for Homes on TV is, according to President John Giaimo, run by a professional marketing agency that knows how to get results. For those homeowners who want their homes featured, there are several advertising options, ranging in cost from $299 to $795. Each advertising campaign, run by Giaimo and his team, will include such marketing tools as television advertising; video walk-through and presentation; Internet distribution on well-traveled and significant search engines including Google and Yahoo; direct mail marketing with local distribution of postcard mailers; local newspaper classified advertising; and custom printed flyers and lawn signage.
In addition, homeowners can list their properties on http://SearchHomesOnTV.com - SHOTV's Web site - for free.
"Unlike competing FSBO sites, all data elements and up to seven images of the property can be promoted on our site at no cost. And the listing may remain on the site until sold,"
Giaimo says. "We have an aggressive and ongoing ad campaign to draw would-be buyers to our Web site."
The typical homeowner spends approximately $200 every week to advertise their homes in local newspapers. But, to sell a home in a down market, today's homeowners must be far more aggressive rather than focusing on only one marketing tool.
SHOTV allows them to do just that.
"We are changing the way real estate is handled. From the advertising to the actual selling of the property, it's now a whole new venture," Giaimo says.

I like what you are doing here... the TV option is great. I have been trying to sell my house for 7 months in the paper and have had one showing!!!!!! I need some help.
One question... I am selling by myself, but I am concerned with all the paperwork. Is there any any option to have somebody help me with this? |

| Yes it is taking a while in some parts of the county to get a home sold… however, you are coming into the spring selling season... interest rates are low and credit is starting to loosen up. If you have priced your home right (see our eppraisal post) and you have some consistent visibility you should have some luck.
As to help! Here’s a response to another blogger that had asked how much should one spend in marketing their home… There are many ways to spend advertising dollars, just ask any person in business and as you may already know, classified ads are expensive and only provide visibility for the day they are run, so they are somewhat limited and not really cost effective. SHOTV’s “Gold” Ad campaign will feature your home on their TV show as a launch to your campaign.. but that is just the start of what they can do for you. They take the commercial that they aired on the show and then place it on 28 high traffic web portals, effectively placing your ads were the buyers are. According to the National Association of Realtors (NAR), 80% of the home shopping public will use the web to start their home shopping process. You need to be where the buyers are!
In today’s market, it will take time to sell, consistent visibility is imperative!
As to the necessary forms, yes, this can be a burden, even for the most seasoned real estate professional as the rules are often changed calling for another form!
A solution is enlisting the assistance of a real estate professional, as a matter of fact, SHOTV will be able to connect you with a PRO that will be able to help and in many instances, at no cost to you… We will introduce our new program in the coming week… check back. |

Well, it is about time that someone figured out how to meld together FSBOs and Realtors. What a great idea this new site and the whole SearchHomesOnTV concept is.
I always use animations of some kind on my Orange County Real Estate site especially when showing the scenic points of South Orange County, CA. And I use a two-minute video on me, Orange County Realtor Debbie Ferrari, to let buyers and sellers know more about me quickly.
SearchHomesOnTV is a dramatic breakthrough in the way homes are marketed. More people everyday try FSBO selling and if they can gain Realtor services for even PART of their home selling experience, that will help them do a good job. And in slow markets for Realtors, like now, it can even get them a few dollars that may be badly needed right now....Yes, Virginia, the two CAN work together in harmony. Debbie Ferrari |
