We need homes to sell in Ventura County!

Nov. 1, 2009

I am researching data for several types of homes for upcoming listings.  I have never seen so few homes for sale in my almost 30 years of selling homes in Ventura County.  I specifically wish that more sellers with equity would take advantage of this fact and if their lifestyle permits it (move-up or move-down), put their home on the market and make a move.  This would add inventory and probably improve their lifestyle (lower interest rate, lower price, a home more appropriate for their current situation).  There are plenty of buyers out there who would like to buy a home from a "regular" seller and not have to go through the short sale or REO sale.  It would also be a great stimulus for the industries involved with families buying and/or selling a home.  Let's get the word out and see who needs our help to improve their life!

I had read some information about Ventura County, and I end-up with, an oniomaniac has nothing to do with vegetables, or at least doesn't usually.  An oniomaniac doesn't crave French Onion Soup, but rather has a compulsive disorder in which they want to buy a lot of stuff (usually useless but aesthetically pleasing or part of current trends – see also designer shoes, and this utterly stupid obsession with cellular phones) and it leads to harm.  It's cutely dressed up as "shopaholic" but that's a load of malarkey.  Anyone THAT fulfilled by buying shoes or a phone has problems – and besides, you buy new ones anyway and a bunch of suits are getting rich off people's ILLNESS – that isn't cute.  An oniomanic has a disease that leads to loan lenders, misery, and debt.
