Prospecting is Simple |
The Real Estate business is, as George W. Bush once referred to something, “Not Rocket Surgery”. Would you agree we make it seem more difficult than it is? Then, when things are not going as planned, the blame game begins. Well, it must be the weather, the economy, the ozone layer, those darn banks….blah, blah, blah. Now, granted, there are many factors that can come between everyday life, deals and goals that cause us grief, but often times there is a solution if we keep a cool head and focus.
I am so proud of our Michigan Franchisees for their dedication to EXIT Realty and their perseverance in this business. They are faced everyday with enormous challenges that come with running a brokerage, it can sometimes seem like swimming upstream with grizzly bears waiting with their mouth open. Again, it takes a cool head, a good team and incredible focus. We all play such an important part in all of our success that it must be pointed out how valuable everyone is. Much like a link in a chain, we all play specific roles to succeed in the Real Estate Business.
I believe in subliminal effect. Many times thoughts are formed in my brain from seeing something more than once, or aligning events and thinking there is something to the coincidence. Is it coincidence? So every time you look at your watch it reads the same time or you hear the same line on the radio, then on a T.V. program, then someone repeats the same line. Is that a coincidence? It is a sign, and if you ignore it, you may lose an opportunity that may not come by again.
The key to sales is not going to surprise you. It is a numbers game; always has been and always will be. You ask 100 people if they want to buy something and odds are good at least one will buy. Read any sales book and the one that wins is the one that gets in front of the most people. To support my claim, I happened to be watching one of my favorite movies a couple weeks ago “The Pursuit of Happyness” with Will Smith. There is a line in the movie when he begins his internship at the Investment Company where his subconscious says out loud “It was simple; X number of calls equals X number of prospects. X number of prospects equals X number of customers. X number of customers equals X number of dollars in the companies pocket”.
