THE DRY DOCK - located on Hwy 71 just south of the Bridge offers casual dining with a lake view. Outside seating available. Open year round. Burgers, salads, soups, etc. I'd suggest putting their phone number into your cell phone as it's a great place to pre-order a Chicken Strip Basket, ready in about 10 mins, pull up to their lake dock, and grab yourself a meal for the boat. One order is enough for two. I generally am not too big on salt; however, if you get the fries, you might want to remember to grab some salt packets. Number to call: 712.332.9449

The Iowa Great Lakes Area hopes to have a new look next spring! In the former Boji Bay location plans are in the makings for a Perkins Restaurant and Bakery. With the city of Milford's help, development could begin in the next month with opening targeted by next Spring. Restaurant plans features a 5,000 square foot facility valued at approx. $1M.

FRESH BISTRO - open on Hill Ave., in Uptown Spirit Lake is a welcome addition to our Hill Ave., business district. Open Mon-Sat 7a.m. - 5 p.m. FRESH BISTRO boasts to serve the "Best coffee, Pastries & lunch in town". With it's crisp metro environment, friendly service and moderately priced menu, it's a great place to have lunch or light dinner. Fresh also serves beer and wine and has a few outdoor tables to enjoy this small town atmosphere. I ordered the Manderian Chicken Salad and was pleased with this selection. The table next to me was served some sort of pasta with chicken breast on top that looked very yummy! I'll have to try this next time! Give it a try and be sure to leave your comments below!

Minerva's Restaurant, located in Arrowood Resort (formally Village East) on Hwy. 71 South, across from McDonalds is one of my frequent lunch choices. The atmosphere is very relaxing yet a bit on the upscale side. My personal pics would be "Minerva's Ceasar Salad" either with grilled chicken or blackened salmon. For a bit under $10 - great service combined with a golf course view, I'd recommend giving it a try. One of the local favorites is Minerva's Flatbread. Be sure to leave your comments below.

OPEN & READY FOR BUSINESS! Now open in the Lakes area "Marco's Mexcian Restaurant". For the past several years I've been driving to Spencer to enjoy this authenic and wonderfully delicious Mexican Food. Not that it's a long drive to Spencer (20 mins), but hey, every little bit of saving on high priced gas is a help -
Now open in Okoboji, Located on Hwy. 71 S. just north of Lakes Art Center is where you'll find the best Mexican food the lakes has to offer. I'd recommend it to each of you. My favorite menu item is the "Marco Mexican Salad" - loaded with shimp, beef, chicken, peppers & onions, it's like noneother. In fact, let's start a new thread of "Restaurants and Things to Do in the Area". I'll add the columns and invite each of you to join in by posting your favorite eating or recreation area. Click on the Column heading and add you post. Re-visit this site often to view others recommendations. It's going to be a great summer of good food and lots of fun!
