Use Cell Phone As A Modem For Your Laptop

I tested my PDA Net and it worked just fine. I have found the following problems in the past. Worn cable (happens often I go thru one every few months), loading a camera it seems camera software changes the USB ports. Sometimes for no reason I have to do a soft reset on my phone to get the PDA Net to work. I think about 75% of the time it's not the phone but the computer that causes the problem. If you get an error code email it to June Fabrics.

I purchases one through the Blackberry Apps store called, "Tetherberry", I think the website is www.tetherberry.com For a one time fee of $49.95, no monthly fees like Verizon's $30.00 per month. It is as fast as Verizon's... I cannot tell any difference. I don't use it that often, that is why I couldn't justify $30.00 per month, but even so, it should work as much as you need it to ....good luck
I would love to try Tetherberry --- but heard on one of the real estate forums I'm on, that Verizon will cut off wireless service and add a big charge (about $150) to your bill if they catch you using this. Do you know anything about that, or have any other users had issues with Verizon over this?
I've been using a program to called PDAnet to tether my palm for over 3 years with no problem. If you read your fine print on your "unlimited service" on data use, its not really unlimited. If you go over that amount, you can be charged. Its a high limit, never even came close.
I haven't heard that about Verizon and Tetherberry... I would be very interested if that was in their fine print. I don't use it that much, I have probably used it a total of a half hour in the last 2 months since I purchased it...I wonder how they would know? I have the unlimited data package that I pay for, and the MLS uploads either nightly or daily... plus the ability to access websites and other content with the Blackberry Curve, which I believe accesses the same data package that the Tetherberry would... I will keep an eye out for any strange things with Verizon and report back
I have been using PDAnet tethering software on my palm with Verizon for about an hour or two each month and have never had an issue. My plan includes unlimited data.
I was told to check out a website that gave instructions to tether just about any smart phone. I am not 100% positive but I believe it is www.MyTether.net
