I received an email from my friend Mike Barnett of RealTown fame yesterday asking for a Blackberry section. So here it is, we will run this discussion thread for Blackberry users. I do not have a Blackberry but do have one coming to add to my collection so the members of this group who use the BB I need your help!

I hope to learn from you about Blackberry so we all can benefit from this addition to our group!

Thanks,

Dick

I look forward to sharing ideas, tips and tricks with my fellow BlackBerry Realtor friends.

One question I have is, has anyone foind a way to have the BlackBerry phone display the local time zone you are in without it changing the times of your appointments (that are in local network time).

I am not sure if there is a way to do this automatically. I certainly do not travel as extensivly as you do - but here are some thoughts:

Under Settings (wrench), choose Date & Time - then Date & Time Source - click the wheel and try Update time. This moght work if you are on the Network choice.

Another option might be to change the source to your computer - change the computers' time and synch.

If you haven't already, join the blackberry's owner's lounge at: http://na.blackberry.com/eng/ownerslounge/ Sometimes they have free downloads, or sign ups for free stuff - I have a $5 gift card to starbux & a $10 amex gift card :)

From Matthew Ferrara:

Boost your Blackberry with a Powerful RSS Reader

June 26, 2008

Here's a cool tool I've been playing with for a few weeks. It's called Viigo and it's a RSS reader for your Smartphone. I've been testing it on my Blackberry Pearl (which still continues to leave my students in awe at the fact that they don't need to carry around lunch-box sized smartphones unless their cranky old MLS mandates it) and it has worked flawlessly. So it's time to share the product with all of you.

Mike - Regarding the change of time in your Blackberry: I had the same problem and my wonderful Blackberry techs at T-Mobile told me how to do: what you DON'T want to do is change your time zone! So the only thing to do is change the time (Options, Date/Time, then change "Time" and leave the Time Zone alone). Viola! You are now on current time (wherever you are), but your appointments stay where they were originally.

HTH!

I have recently joined RealTown and came across this group.

I started using a BB 8830 from Veizon a year ago. I think I could do many more things with it than the starndard aps. I am looking forward to be active in this group.

Any suggestions for Real Estate speciic aps I should be using?

I read either in this thread or on ePROTALK that somebody was successful at getting Verizon to trade their Palm Treo for a new Blackberry.

I have been trying and trying to get Alltel to take back my Treo 755P. They have traded me for "refurbished" twice now and say they have to do it three times before they will even consider any other option. I have the third trade on order. My ulitimate goal is to get them to take it back and give me a Blackberry Curve.

Has anybody EVER been successful in getting Alltel to trade a Treo for a Blackberry and HOW did you do it?

I just found this group and am excited to be involved. I have had a BB Curve for about 6 months now and love it! I just figured out how to get my Facebook and Myspace (my son's myspace actually to keep tabs) on it. I have also downloaded Googlemaps which is free GPS instead of having to pay AT&T for the service (which I wouldn't do anyway since I have a Garmin..but it is still cool).

I'd love to see what other aps anyone is using on the BB.
