I recently had a problem with syncing my calendar in my TREO 755p with my company email, Microsoft Exchange Server using Outlook 2003. Fortunately, all my appointments are fine in Outlook, but have been duplicated and triplicated in my Palm. I cannot touch any of the duplicates in my TREO, because they are each one connected to the event in Outlook.

I think my only solution is to purge all events in my Palm calendar and then reload them from Outlook 2003 on my laptop. Never done it before, so I am hoping you can tell me how.

John,

What if you went to www.PocketGear.com and download a 30 day free trial of a dup eliminator or undup software. It would go thru the 755 and catch all the dupes.

Dick,

I thought about this problem further, and realized that it is not simply a duplication problem. Both records in my TREO 755p are connected to the record in Outlook (Microsoft Exchange) so that no matter which one I delete, it deletes the record in Outlook. That is why I am thinking I need to purge the TREO calendar and reload it from Outlook, if that is even possible to force on purpose.

Thanks, John Hicks

Hi John,

Just in case something goes wrong and doesn't work as you expect, make sure you back up your Outlook data before doing this.

Deleting calendar items on your phone is sometimes problematic because of their ability to recur. Birthdays are a perfect example since they recur yearly. Except in cases where you are trying to restore order on a phone, I always counsel our clients to NEVER do deletes on the phone. Always delete things in Outlook and let the deletes sync to the phone.

When you bring up your calendar in your Treo, the menu options have a purge which should allow you to remove all events older than 1 week. You can then delete any events left for your current week. This should clear your phone calendar.

When you sync again, your Outlook calendar events should be restored on your Treo. Good luck with this.
