I had good luck with my TREO 650, and "upgraded" to a 755p about 15 months ago. The screen cracked on that unit 6 months ago, and I decided to just replace the phone.

Now I am locked up in the "Powered by Access" which seems to be "the screen of death". A hard reset does not seem to do anything. The unit was purchased new in box from an Alltel retailer who was loosing his franchise with the Verizon consolidation, so I may not have any warranty.

Any cures, ideas or rants? I'm not sure I can continue with Palm products.

Hey Matt,

I am on my final testing 2 weeks of the Palm Pre and it's a cool phone.

I already feel sad about not being able to open lock boxes with my

phone and that is one of the things holding me back. I still have my

Treo 700P which works great but seems HUGE compared to the Pre.

If you are going to give up the IR, might as well get an i-phone or Blackberry. There are several in my office and elsewere that love the Palm Centro. No problems with it and a year in service.

Alltel will be replacing my TREO 755P on warranty, so that wil work for now. Even the 755 seems light compared to the 650 and 700. The 680, 750 and 755 were the same chasis. The Centro is smaller and very reliable. I don't know if anyone except Verizon has it.

Well I know all too well about the Alltel "screen of death". I had a 650 for 2.5 years and it worked great. I upgraded to the 755p in February and have had nothing but problems since...As a matter of fact it finally too the final turn last Saturday when it would not stop the continual looping (yes, I went to the website and removed all non-compatible third party software, all except my lockbox key duh) and no luck. I ended up with a BlackBerry and so far am very happy I really thought I would miss the touch screen but it seemed more of an annoyance than a big advantage. I am glad I didn't contract with Verizon for the BlackBerry Storm as it is touchscreen and is just one more thing to go wrong. I always felt like my Palm OS was not stable and just seconds away from crashing which it finally did. Now if I could just get GE Security to rush my BlackBerry fob I'd be okay (3 weeks out).

I have had the PRE for almost 30 days now and although it is a very cool and wonderful phone, I think I am returning it. The Sprint service drops too many calls, which is so unprofessional, and the calls are "in a tin can". Also, there is feedback (I can hear the echo of my own voice on the calls).

I am probably moving to a Centro - how's everyone else doing with their

Pre's? I know the Centro is a step down but reception is king and Sprint is short in that area.
