Palm, Inc has come up with a work around for folks using Vista with a 64 bit system and Palm OS. For months I have been telling folks to wait as I thought something was coming. Palm has 6.2 Desktop available for free on their website <a href="http://www.palm.com/">www.Palm.com</a> they offer the download. In the same area they cover how using Bluetooth you can hotsync. Not to panic if your computer doesn't have Bluetooth, run down to a local electronics store and pick one up for $30.
</p>
<p>
I have added a new page to my website to make it as easy as possible. Go to my my website and look under the tab "Tips and Tricks" and look for the tab "Palm 64 Bit". You can also click <a href="http://www.dickbetts.com/tipstricks/palm64bit.html">http://www.dickbetts.com/tipstricks/palm64bit.html</a>
</p>
<p>
Hope this helps many of you!

Has anyone looked at the advantages or disadvantages of ATT's blackberry curve vs. bold other than price? I've never used a smartphone so this is all new.

Unlimited data plans have become common for Smartphones, especially in the real estate industry. Access to MLS, updating Supra eKey function for lock-box operation, email service, all have a great part in our business.
</p>
<p>
General browsing the web, however, is seriously limited by the Smartphone (keyboard, screen size, etc.). Most phone companies have a monthly fee for use of a Smartphone as a modem for Internet access on your laptop. That fee is in addition to the fee for the smartphone data plan. I believe Sprint is an exception.
</p>
<p>
I have been using PdaNet software for almost a year, and it is one of the best buys in technology. My TREO 755 on Alltel provides a wireless Internet connection for my laptop almost anywhere. Right now I am in Broken Bow, OK where there does not seem to be any free or subscriber wifi service. There is wifi available in Idabel, OK (12 to 15 miles south).
</p>
<p>
My TREO is running fine, and I have Internet access even here. Speed is good most areas, and adequate in more rural areas. PdaNet costs about $30 as a one-time cost, and is now available for Windows Mobile and some non-Palm non-Windows smartphones. I will be buying PdaNet software for my daughter soon. She is in college and has a Blackberry Curve with a data plan.
</p>
<p>
Check it out. <a href="http://www.junefabrics.com/palmnet/">http://www.junefabrics.com/palmnet/</a>

<p>
I installed this on my Blackberry Curve and it works smoothly. Best of all it's free.
</p>
<p>
I guess because I am always doing new things and it was a nice day for a ride in my convertible, I used a male to male connector wire and fed my stereo in the car from my Blackberry when it was running iHeartRadio. Excellent! I can almost do without XM!
</p>
<p>
I was using the Blackberry to pick radio stations!
</p>
<p>
I haven't found out, yet, what happens when I get a call, but it was so nice out for the time being, I figured I would let it go to voice mail.
</p>
<p>
Enjoy

<p>
I have been researching ways or software to forward text messages to email. At first, that may seem counter intuitive, but the advantages are similar to what we do with email. We save email and manipulate text within email as needed, so why not do the same with text messages?
</p>
<p>
I like the "immediacy" of a text message, but the purpose seems defeated when I am at my PC or laptop and not paying attention to my Blackberry. Often, I may not notice that I have a text message for a couple of hours, but I check email on the PC continuously.
</p>
<p>
I found Cortado (free) "sms2desk," but the free version fixated itself on my business email account, and you can only configure which email address you want to use by buying the "premium" version. I never want my personal communication via text to go on the brokerage's server, so I had to uninstall the application before I could try it extensively.
</p>
<p>
<a href="http://www.cortado.com/euen/CortadoFree/SoftwareforBlackBerry/SMS2Desk.aspx"><font color="#1C4D90">http://www.cortado.com/euen/CortadoFree/SoftwareforBlackBerry/SMS2Desk.aspx</font></a>
</p>
<p>
I have also found OZEKI NG - SMS Gateway
</p>
<p>
<a href="http://www.ozekisms.com/index.php?owpn=112"><font color="#1C4D90">http://www.ozekisms.com/index.php?owpn=112</font></a>
</p>
<p>
I really don't want to install and uninstall applications to evaluate their performance, so can anyone suggest a method using Outlook or an application that can do this?
</p>

I am converting from a Palm Treo 700P to Blackberry (Sprint). Question; how to transfer Contacts, Calendar, Tasks, etc. from Palm OS to Outlook/Blackberry. I've looked in manuals, online, etc. but can't seem to find how to do so intuitively and Palm support continues to be less than helpful (one reason for the change). Help!?

My 4 year old HP laptop crashed irretrievably several weeks ago. I like many people had been holding out to replace my laptop because I knew I would be buying Vista and the talk was that Vista still had bugs that needed to be worked out. However, my kids were using Vista with no problems so I bought a new HP laptop with Vista. When I tried to sync my Treo with the laptop it requested drivers to be installed, but the system would not accept the driver installation.
</p>
<p>
I use Verizon so I called their tech support to try to find the problem. After several hours it was evident that the young man working with me was looking up the information or asking his supervisor the answers to questions. I hung up in frustration and continued on my own. Well into the night I decided to call Verizon again, hoping to get a more experienced tech, which I did. This fellow stepped me through the same questions and process as I had been doing all day but this time when it didn't work he called Palm and got a Palm tech support person on a three way call. Palm tech support asked that I check to see what version of Vista I was running and told me where how to find the answer. I found that I was running Vista 64 bit. When the Palm tech heard this she said the 64 bit version of Vista will not support the Palm Treo 700p or 680 if I remember correctly. This news meant that I had to buy a new phone if I wanted to sync with my new laptop. I told the Palm tech that I had to sync my phone with both the XP desktop in my office and the Vista laptop I had just purchased, since I had buy a new phone that would work with the Vista laptop what phone could I buy that will sync with both Vista 64 bit and XP. The reply was Blackberry.
</p>
<p>
I purchased a Blackberry Pearl because I was eligible for an upgrade with Verizon and it ended up being very inexpensive. I could have bough up but the Pearl gave me everything I needed and I have been very pleased with the ease of operation.
</p>
<p>
I share my story with you because I did not realize that Vista or possibly the version of vista that was on the computer that I purchased would not accept some of the hardware and software that I was using. I tried to install Quicken 2006 and also found after half a day working with it that this version of Vista would not run anything but the latest version of Quicken.
</p>
<p>
Hopefully, what I have learned will be of benefit to someone else who finds themselves in the position it was in. My laptop had crashed and I needed a replacement quickly. I am very pleased with the new Vista HP laptop and have no problem with the Vista system. I am also very pleased with my new Blackberry Pearl. However, when I was forced to replace the laptop I did not anticipate also being forced to replace the phone.<br />

I have a somewhat 'unique' situation and am in need of help. My wife and I are a real estate team. We have Outlook (2003) but do not have Exchange.
</div>
<p>
Objective: Have the same Contact database (DB) on both of our PC's and on both of our Treo 750's (Windows Mobile).
</p>
<p>
Now I keep the Master DB on my pc and Sync regularly. Periodically I wipe out her Outlook DB and Export / Import from mine to hers and then she Sync's her phone. We have a wireless home network and can see each other's files so... Is there an easier way to accomplish our objective?
</p>
