SEO vs Social Networking, what is really going on

Mar. 14, 2009

A friend of mine directed me to recent article that claims SEO is dead that Social Networking was taking over!  Well not so fast, I believe you never abandon a marketing strategy you just keep adding more.  In my class "Today's Top Technology Trends" I cover tons of web presence but also tell folks to not quit traditional marketing.  You must find a balance and have layers of marketing because not everybody finds what they need the same way.

Example, one of my coaching clients just switched companies and we developed a marketing strategy using every tool available.  The company ran an article announcing her with the new company, her and I worded the announcement and she got a very good lead from just the article.  Next she mailed out 800 letters to past clients which so far as delivered her one good solid lead.  She went out and hung door knockers which has generated another lead.  Her website is looking good, she is blogging her brains out and spending time on all the social networks.  Were not done, she took out a quarter page ad in the local newspaper, and sending out 600 post cards a month.

So what does all this have to do with SEO vs Social Networking?  Again I believe in attacking from as many different angles as possible.

I pulled up my own website and checked my Analytics on visits and where they are coming from.  Here's the facts;

74% of my visits were direct (bookmarking and actually typing my web address)

13% of my visit came from organic searches such as Google, Yahoo, MSN etc

10% of my visits came from referral sites such as NAR, other websites that have either my link or information.

3% of my visits came from Social Networking such as Facebook and blog sites

I am willing to monitor for changes and direct my efforts accordingly but for now SEO is not dead!

You mistakenly quoted the article.  The article said that conventional SEO is dying a slow death.  Here is the actual article that has coused so much clutter from the self-proclaimed SEO experts community:  it is often misquoted on purpose:

http://socialmediasystems.com/blog/the-slow-death-of-seo-as-we-know-it/

Why should you believe me?  Well here ae several reasons:

Nobody is more qualified to assist you with your internet advertising needs, videos, social media marketing, and website design and publishing than us: the proof is ‘in the pudding’ just ask Google:

real estate social media Google Search

real estate social media marketing Google Search

real estate social media website design Google Search

realtor smo Google Search

realtor sem Google Search

internet advertising consultant Google Search

real estate social media advertising Google Search

Case Study: Two weeks old and on first page of Google already!

Yvonne didn’t want to spend much.  She had a domain she had reserved: whitemountainforeclosedpropertisblog.com.

She bought our very inexpensive offering for $479 for the blog with Wordpress template of her choice, submission to the top 100 directories and one year of hosting included: her desired search: white mountain foreclosed properties

You will notice that her brand new site is already number ten on the first page of Google at this printing, and the links I will put up today may make it number White Mountain Foreclosed Properties Blogone for White Mountain Foreclosed Properties
I cannot tell you that I new this would happen this fast, but I knew it would happen, just as sure as I am suiting here, and as sure as my name is Israel Rothman - Google me!

We are the best in the world at what we do, and we can do the same for you.

Much of what we do, and what many copy cats all over the world do, I invented. My name is Israel Rothman.  If you think about it, you have probably heard of me. Google me! Then call me:

But don't let me confuse anyone with the facts, there are always people around to peddle sweet lies: as the founder of Barnum and Baily Circus would agree.

I never read your article so I would say you jumped to conclusions.  The article I referred to was not even on RealTown.  I find your comment in very bad taste and the fact you assumed I was slamming you was very irresponsible,

I would hope in the future you would check with me to see if I was attacking you!  Your comment to me;

"You mistakenly quoted the article.  The article said that conventional SEO is dying a slow death.  Here is the actual article that has coused so much clutter from the self-proclaimed SEO experts community:  it is often misquoted on purpose:"

Well then, I stand corrected.  In the future, you may choose to quote your sources under Creative Commons to avoid such confusion.  I cenrtainly am not attacking you personally: just the premise that there is any debate between SEO and social media marketing.  I suggest you porvide a link to the article to which you are referring, if it exists.

The fact that 'Israel Rothman' is a unique name makes it easy for you to come up on Google, together with your relentless self promotion. The issue, however, is not if your prospects can find you, but rather, if those prospects prospects can find them for what they sell, not by their name. Anyone can make any URL come up when searched for by name. It is the ability to make a site appear when searched for by WHAT YOU SELL that matters, for that, SEO is still King.

Dick, thanks for your post. I agree with it completely. I would mention to you that when SEO works properly, it delivers about 50% of your site traffic. That's what we seek to do.

Finally, how many clients a technique has; how many of those clients are succeeding--THAT is what consumers should zero in upon when evaluating a technology or a vendor. Selling online is a lot more than being found on page one. Being found on page one is good, but that is simply the STARTING point for Internet marketing success.

Best regards to all,

Mike Parker

Mike, thanks you made my day, "together with your relentless self promotion" quote from comments.

I love his final comment to me "If it exists".

Hey I am up against a rock star, Dick Betts and the Allman Brothers and I just checked I have 15 of the Google top 20 spots, but I agree that doesn't help anything.  I am number one for the words I want to be in Google which sells my product ....ME!

Mike keep up the GOOD work and wish you nothing but the best, others can ...... nevermind not worth it.

Dick
