So far so good with this short sale that I have - my issues are not with the bank (not yet anyway) but with the homeowner - it is sad to see this person whom I knew 20 years ago and top of her game in corporate world come to this. She lives with her son they're both unemployed she's on food assistance and the house I'm doing a short sale on has loads of her stuff - sentimental, and very high quality furniture --- she wants a fresh start south to move to her friends' in Georgia somewhere but she has literally no means of getting a moving truck to take her stuff - I'm telling her sell what you want get enough money to begin a new life - stuff is stuff - just take the sentimental things and start fresh - anyway - long story - I guess my question is if there is any governmental assistance for these displaced homeowners to move - or other non-profit assistance that I can tell her about -

Thanks-

Bless her heart. Try this, it's worked for me ... take a visual tour of everything in the house. Lot's of close-up photos. Tons of descriptions, basically a diary on VT, directly from her. Keep it live on VT with your acct & a URL for her to go to whenever. Download all the pics & VT on a CD/DVD for her in case she can't get high speed internet. Print out all the pics & descriptions & put them in a 3-ring binder for her. Then, she'll more easily be able to part with the "things" b/c the sentimental part has been recorded. It works for most people. They need to sell their lovely things b/c survival is paramount. But the memory is permanently recorded, which is emotionally paramount.
