Legislative Fact

Apr. 24, 2009

81st Texas Legislature
Issue 14: April 24, 2009

Legislative fact
Did you know that the governor can veto part of an appropriations bill? Article 4, Section 14, of the Texas Constitution allows such a line-item veto, which only applies to bills that appropriate state funds. Forty-three governors in the United States share this same authority—but not the president.
