Ok I have to admit I am domain name junkie! I own 164 domain names. I maintain 13 websites, the other domain names would forward into my sites. I know this did nothing for SEO, I just wanted to control the domain names.

Well that has changed, at least I think. I am curious on your opinion. Godaddy.com now allows me to create a one page very simple website for each domain. I can add my contact information as well as one link.

See an example here. http://brookfieldforsalebyowner.com/ The main thing I was hoping to achieve was another link back to my main site. www.BrookfieldHomesForSale.com which I am hoping will help with SEO.

I would be curious to see your thoughts on how this would work.

Brad,

What you want are good quality one-way links. Linking from a single page website that is full of GoDaddy ads won't help you.

Interestingly enough, your little one-pager has a tiny bit of PR, but that's only because Google is still caching your main site.

In addition, there's a "black hat" SEO trick called adding "doorway pages". That's where you create a site just to link to another site. I'd wager that's how the search engines will see what you're doing.

The search engines will pretty quickly figure out what's up. I'd steer clear.

Hi Brad,

I checked with the head of our IT Department, and here's what he had to say:

This WILL help SEO, but not significantly enough to justify the cost in time. A simple one-page of content will not hold much weight at all in the engines, so it will not be able to contribute much weight at all to your main page. A better use of time would be to expand the content on your main page rather than to distribute it to other pages off-site, which will help in its DIRECT weight rather than its indirect weight.
Best of luck to you!

Thanks Caroline

Myabe we should talk. I had a local company doing SEO work for me last year. I wasnt happy with the results. I have been doing it myself for 10 years. They didnt increase my traffic at all. In fact it went down for awhile. I have 13 websites so SEO gets expensive.

Hi Brad,

Would you like our sales associate, Mei Nitsch to contact you? She could let you know what she thinks you should do.

Hi Brad,

From my experience single page sites like the ones you described do not hold much weight or help much in terms of SE O for your site unless the page it self holds some sort of rank in SERP (if the page ranks itself for related search)

You also run the risk of getting penalized for duplicate content and doorway pages.

I am also a domain name junkie too, lol. At one time a had over a 100 regional/city names for a particular area. I have held top rank for the major RE keywords for an area for the last 6+ years because of owning multiple city related sites.

Brad- Glad to see I'm not the only one that can't resist a new domain name purchase!
