Is submitting to the yahoo directory worth the $300/yr fee?
My first reaction is it is not unless your seo budget is substantial however
it must be in demand otherwise Yahoo would not be able to charge so much.
Here is the url for submission ecom.yahoo.com/dir/submit/intro/

Hi Brian,
I spoke with our head of IT, and here's what he had to say:
Right now, the answer is undoubtedly: No, it is not worth it for real estate agents.
Currently, the online real estate market is juuuust beginning to boom. Yes, it has been occurring for years, but right now is the time when the search engines are beginning to "solidify" the results in their SERPs (Search Engine Results Pages). Once these are solid, they are nearly impossible to move, as the strength of the site feeds off of itself (this is because-inherently-people will reference, link to, and cite the first things they come across, thereby reinforcing the sites to the engines, and "solidifying" them in the SERPs). As the internet ages, it will become more and more difficult to "break in" to Search Engine Optimization, and the tools needed to do it will become exceedingly expensive-such as several hundred dollars for a single listing in Yahoo's directory. Imagine if you needed a few thousand-or even a few hundred of these. The price begins to skyrocket.
In short: No, right now it is not worth it (in the vast majority of real estate markets). However, for those coming late to the field of Online Marketing for Realtors, it can get expensive quickly to force your way in to "solid" searches down the road.
