Here is the website for the short videos that I will be putting together on all sorts of subjects. In fact, if you have ideas for topics, let me know. If I can research and do it, I will create a video for it. Enjoy!

Jun. 27, 2008 - Status of a Transaction

I recently had a question about the difference between "active" and "open" status for a transaction. There is none--at least not for us. Real estate is local and there are areas of the country where they really do differentiate between an "active" and an "open" transaction. That feature was added for them. There is no functional difference between the two. Buddy Snipes

Mar. 18, 2008 - Sending to Yahoo!

I raised the concern that someone had spoken to me about regarding TransactionDesk NOT being able to send docs and emails to a Yahoo! account. So, I came home and created a Yahoo! email account, sent a document to myself and it showed up within just a few minutes.

I also checked with tech support and they tell me that sending to Yahoo! should never be a problem.

Got me. I have no idea how that idea got confused but it sure appears that TransactionDesk and Yahoo! work together just fine. If you ever have that problem, look elsewhere because I don't think it's with TD or Yahoo!

Oct. 16, 2007 - When the FaxBack coversheet isn't on top...

A fairly frequent questions that I get is: "What would happen if a client were to send me a fax, scribble a few notes to me on a piece of paper and THEN place the FaxBack coversheet behing their notes?".

So, I tried it. Good news and bad news. The bad news is that TransactionDesk is looking for the barcode on that first page. When it doesn't see it there it kicks it out. The good news is that it kicks it out to the help desk who are able to figure out that the barcode belongs to you and they will email the entire fax to you directly. Nice catch, huh? The folks at TD are good!

Sep. 16, 2007 - Notifications Sent to Multiple Email Addresses

Maurice had a great question at the class for Coldwell Banker on Old National Highway. He asked if the built in email notifications could be sent to multiple email addresses by changing your profile on GAMLS via adding more email addresses. The answer to that is: no. GAMLS will not allow you to add multiple email addresses to the email address field in your profile. I thought it was a great idea; just hate that it can't be done.

Sep. 11, 2007 - Learning Something New Every Day...

So, I am teaching down in Morrow this week and the question that I always get about a "generic" fax back cover sheet comes as usual. The answer usually centers around creating a faux transation. But, this time, one of the attendees (Julie) asked if that wasn't what was already built into the DocBox. What???? my brain said! Sure enough, if you go to the DocBox, look in the lower right hand corner of the page and there is a feature to print a "generic" fax back cover sheet. That cover sheet is specific to you but not to a particular transation and you can therefore use it in those situations where you need to get faxes in that are not related to a specific transaction. Thank you, Julie.

Aug. 29, 2007 - Sorting of the QuickStart items

There was a question in Tuesday's class about being able to sort the GAR forms in a QuickStart group that you create. The answer is that TransactionDesk automatically sorts the QuickStart Group items by NUMBER. So, F01 will always be at the top of the list and F1XX will always be at the bottom.

May. 2, 2007 - How I Did My RT Signature

I get emails asking how I did my signature for the RT community boards so I decided to post the long and detailed answer on the blog!

All of the elements in my signature began their life on my personal computer. The BUTTONS were downloaded from the Web. I just Googled "free buttons" until I found things I liked. I used the "home" and "mail" buttons just the way they were and opened a blank button and edited it in a graphics program by adding the word "Blog". I used the same graphics program (any graphics program will do) to create my name and saved it as a .gif file. But, having the buttons on my computer does me no good at all. I had to upload them to the web somewhere so that RT could link to them. I chose to upload them to my blog! You could upload them to you webpage or any number of other places. The point is that RT has got to have a URL in order to pull the images in. So here is what that looks like:

Log into you blog and click on Blog Manager:

Now, click on File Upload on the left hand side:

When you click on the "Browse" button, you will see the "Choose File" menu and you can choose which file to upload. You can only upload one file at a time. Now you have all you pieces on the web and you are ready to assemble your signature on RT.

The "add signature" feature is under preferences when you login to RT. But here is the trick: you already have your browser open to your blog. You need to open a NEW browser window to RT and navigate to your "Preferences". You are now going to copy the image from your blog and paste it into your signature. Now you've got a hodge podge of graphics in your signature. Let's do some editing. Right click on any of the graphics.

Select "Image Properties:

On the "Image Info" tab you can set the size. Here I have resized the "home" logo to 40x40 pixels. But, there is a problem: the little blue line around the icon. You will have to click on the "Advanced" tab and edit the "Style" field.

In the "Style" block, change every place is says "1px solid" to "0px solid" and the box will disappear. Now all you have to do is arrange everything the way you want it and add the hyperlinks:

Apr. 19, 2007 - Overriding "Allow SuperUser Access"

The question came up in class at the Oconee Association about whether or not a broker could ultimately have access to docs in an agent's TD account if something were to happen to that agent.

I promised to post an answer by Friday but I am procrastinating. It appears to be a question that has not  been asked before and it's got everyone's head spinning.

So for right now I do not have a definitive answer. Drop me an email and I will send you the answer when I get it or just check back in to the blog. I will get an answer and post it here. It's too big of a question not to. And, thanks for asking it.

Mar. 23, 2007 - Special Stip to cover fax telephone number issue. Question from class of 3/23/2007

For when I represent the Seller:

All parties agree that unless notice to use a different facisimile telephone number is given the the Listing  Broker, all facsimile notices sent to the Listing Broker shall be sent via TransactionDesk Fax-Back Service. A copy of the Fax-Back Cover sheet shall be provided by Buddy Snipes, an affiliated licensee of Broker.

For when I represent the Buyer:

All parties agree that unless notice to use a different facisimile telephone number is given by the Selling  Broker, all facsimile notices sent to the Selling Broker shall be sent via TransactionDesk Fax-Back Service. A copy of the Fax-Back Cover sheet shall be provided by Buddy Snipes, an affiliated licensee of Broker.

Allow me this disclaimer: this is a modification of a fax notification stipulation that Seth Weisman has in the Red Book. I tailored to fit what I thought would work for Transaction Desk. I could be right or I could be wrong. Use at your on risk

Feb. 18, 2007 - TransactionDesk and Vista

Yep. They work together just fine! I am using the Business version of Vista and everthing is working. I did have to run the system check and discovered that I needed to redownload Java. The system check is found under Preferences.

Jan. 25, 2007 - Uploading "active" forms to the TD DocBox

The question has come up several times about whether you can upload a document and fill it out via TransactionDesk. I created a form with Acrobat Designer with active fields that contain spaces to fill in plus pull down windows for selecting field input. I uploaded to my SuperUser account (so that everyone in my office could use it) and here is what I found:

Notice that I was able to put an Invoice Number in the box. Then I tabbed down to the Date field and open the pull down window to display the calendar. SO, yes, you CAN upload a doc that could be distributed and filled out on line.

Jan. 24, 2007 - Screen Shot Outlook 2007

Unbelievable. I actually tried to search for "Jimmy Carter" in all the emails on my computer and actually found 6 entries!! The search took less than 2 seconds. Notice that I only have 1 email folder that I keep all of my emails in. Notice also that the tool bar has just the options that I regulary use; much less clutter.

The Windows Desktop Search allows you to search just your Outlook items or the entire desktop. Here are the results when I searched the entire desktop:
