Just click on the image above to see the video. I can't get the YouTube version to upload here on the blog, but while I am working on that, I think I may like this "click on the photo" version better.
I was trying to post it the way Rudy of Sellsius does his and the way Dustin instructed to "Use You Tube as a Marketing Tool but I think I may like this even better. A simple text link, a small image click on link...seems good to me.
Is there any advantage to using the big media player You Tube version I see on other blogs, over doing it the way I have done it?
One of the reasons that people like to embed the video with YouTube is that it makes the video accessible to more people and it has to do with the underling technology.
No matter what format you upload your video to YouTube, they will turn it into a "flash" video. The main benefit of this is that almost everyone has flash installed in their browser. If you use Windows Media Format (wmf) as you have done, then anyone who does not have Windows Media Player installed will not be able to watch the video. Among the tech crowd, this is an important distinction because a lot of techies are using Macs and/or Linux, neither of which have good WMP support.
For your application, using a file stored as a WMF file is almost definitely good enough!
Neato! Right now I am actually one of those people that Dustin talks about - I am using Linux and can't see it, but I'll be sure to check it out later in Windows.
Congratulations!!! She's gorgeous ... but now I am eating my heart out ... I'm just a poor, suffering Gramma-wannabe with no grandbabies to call my own 8-(
Nice job on the video ... but with a precious kid like that it's hard not to have a gem. --Frances Flynn Thorsen
I don’t know if you did it through Google Video, but, if you didn’t, you should try it. Once you upload the video to GV, it gives you the HTML that you can just copy and paste to your blog, instead of e-mailing it back and forth or whatever you did.So easy even I was able to figure it out on my own!Beautiful family BTW.Must just be good genes ;-)
Jon,
I did upload it on Google Video, but when I cut and paste the code in to the blog, it just came up like flat text, so I deleted it. I will work with Real Town next week and see if they can help with that.
I've been filming unusual homes and amazing architecture and crazy artists for years, really years, before digital. So I have all this film and super-8 that I need to figure out how to convert and download to U-Tube. Someday......
Anyway, cute kid, Ardell! I love babies!
Ardell - Adorable! You must have one outstanding gene poo. I love the imbedded video concept, as well, and am going to have to try it. By the way, when are you going to be in San Diego?
Thanks Kris. Looks like I may have to postpone coming down to CA until December or later. Too many balls in the air and I fly everyone here for Thanksgiving. I can't get away from Seattle until early Nov., given my schedule and then I am too close to everyone coming here.
September just disappeared! I went straight from August to Ocotober somehow. Must have been that Blogathon.
