• Sep. 14, 2008 - Michigan Chapter Women's Council of Realtors Nomination

The members of the State Chapter Michigan Women's Council of Realtors have honored me by placing me as a nominee for the 2009 Pres-Elect Position.

I was stunned to see my name on the ballot.  I believe the members asked for this so that communication can open up.  I don't believe there is enough communication among the chapters and leadership.  I am afraid if elected, I will communicate too much and the leadership will get sick of me (-:

In some recent correspondence a local chapter leadership said she was impressed the I "had the courage to voice my feelings".  That's why we are a membership.  If people are afraid to communicate, the chapters will go down.

I visited the chapters of Western Wayne, Western, Lakepointe, Saginaw and Birmingham-Bloomfield this year to see how other chapters operate.  All chapters are so unique that all can bring a good experience and share.

I would like to see the meetings have some laughter.  They are so serious  that Local Chapters resident's dont' really promote this meetings to the membership.  I hope that can change in the future.

Since the membership nominated me, I would like to serve for them.  If you are a voting member for the Michigan Chapter Women's Council of Realtors please come to the Michigan Association of Realtors Convention- Women's Council of Realtors Meetings.

Mixer 7-9 at the Renaissance Center  Tuesday Sept 15

Membership Business Meeting at the Renaissance Center Wed. 8:30-1:00.

Dear Angie,

Congratulations on your nomination, the fact that your fellow members nominated you must mean that they trust that you will provide what your Local Chapter needs the most.  From what you say in your blog, it is mainly about your communication style.  I have the experience of being a Local Chapter President in 2006 in Southern California, so in hindsight I would like to add a few comments you may find valuable in your future role.

Each monthly meeting is your one opportunity to show your membership that you are ahead of the curve and exist to make their business better and more productive.  If you can communicate that message clearly, consistently and creatively your success is limitless because you will find that you are the only one providing that unique value, you care about them!

Go into your community, local mayors, school superintendents, successful business leaders and RE Top Producers and build interesting programs around them to allow your membership access to the "Best the Community" has to offer.  At the same time you will be building prestige in your chapter that will ultimately attract new members.

Our chapter has always been most successful when communicating to our members and local association in all three forms available, email, phone and paper fliers. Whenever we leave one out, we do not get the same attendance.  Always go the extra mile in communicating your message!

Last but not least, while President Elect, start to build your team.  That will allow you as President to reach your success in communicating why WCR is so valuable along with your  important and inspirational message.

Always remember, they nominated you for a reason.

Best of luck, you are giving back so much to your fellow Realtors and Affiliate members and they will thank you for years to come.

Have fun.....
